Time to Unionize Fedex ground

This is the best time to unionize fedex ground . Start with the part timers and work your way to the drivers of the contractors . Cheap pay hasn’t increased in 15 years , driver making only $160 per day , part timers not having any benefits and making them work harder then ever. Big working hazards at fedex facilities. Contractors trucks are not well maintained for safety of the drivers. Packages the size of fridges getting delivered by one person. Contractors claim they are not getting enough money to pay drivers a proper wage. Now is the time for the teamsters to take action , unionize part timers first , get your foot in the door , then handle express , then ground drivers , you’ve got democrats in the house and senate , what are you waiting for ? Ups should have an interest in helping the teamsters organize at fedex. Now is the time

UPS tried to get congress to regulate fedex under the NLRA, didn't work. Every station and the employees of each contractor would all have to be organized one by one. Without an act of Congress you will not likely be able to unionize. "Union Friendly" democrats are in control, it should be a slam dunk. Biden failed on $15/hr, he needs a labor win about now. Write to your senators and representative. Let us know how that works out.

You are clueless.

Educate yourself before you climb back on your soapbox. It’s less embarrassing.

I don’t work at UPS anymore.
California just tried to make the contractor model for delivery workers illegal, and citizens voted to overturn that law. Because they’re stupid. Because people are weak and stupid and care more about cheap stuff and convenience than other working class Americans. And they also love being distracted by social issues while the two big political parties sell them down the river to corporations time and time again. Without the power of strike or boycott nothing will change.

Fred S won't make the same mistake Jim Casey made when Jim invited the union into ups......There will also be more r.t.w. states......

Do you really think Jim Casey made a mistake? UPS was going to be unionized either way. Jim Casey hand picked who he was going to have to bargain with.

I misworded that....JC figured it was coming and being pro-active made the way easy.....JC was pragmatic in many areas including this one...Worked with people thereby creating his legend.....too bad he was forced out and marginalized and didn't have good successors...look what happened when UPS became ups when went public.....once that happened the top echelon made much money and retired leaving the left management with a mess.....

on the plus side it seems that carol tome has her head on straight and tight......rumor is that retirees will be getting a general 10 % bump up with annual bumps of inflation plus 1%.......time will tell .

I vaguely remember around 2010 signing a petition to allow FedEx employees the opportunity to join a Union or Not, both the Teamsters and UPS were in agreement over lobbying Washington to change their exemption and change them to be under the NLRA. Obama was in office at the time and both parties thought that it might go through, it did not. These union free corporations will continue to run the show no matter who is in office, that is one of the problems with our current Labor laws and Federal agencies that govern American workplaces, it isn't a even playing field, the pendulum has swung to far on the Big Business end and all labor unions are reduced to pandering to the corporate interests.

Back in the day with UPS all it took to become a Collective Bargaining employee was to sign a union card, we had Clerks do it back in the early 70's. Now it appears that the Union Leadership in every level are scared of offending Corporate UPS if they even tried to organize non union employees within our "Closed" Shop. How are they going to organize outside a "Closed" shop and require new Collective Bargaining agreements?

There will be a change in leadership once Hoffa retires, maybe things will change with this pandemic shock that occurred in the American work environment that will give a boast to all unions to get back to their missions statements and roots instead of playing patty cake with these corporations just to get along.

Thats my point....I dont see smith or bezos welcoming the teamsters or any union....I do see more states going raw states....currently 27 states are raw . The mixture of union/nonunion in those States as well as the numbers are unknown...Its an interesting situation and shows that much has to be done.

Judge me.
I wouldnt be surprised if fedex, and even amazon invited the Teamsters in, as a woke statement. I mean, the teamsters basically let the companies do as they please. And if you look at the contracts of other workers represented, its pretty laughable.

looks like a win win win situation....its easier for the companies to work with the unions while the actual workers get to think that they have representation. until the new wears off......mostly democrats ......whats the percentage of the work force in R.T.W states opt for union membership ?......that would be interesting...

It would depend on how the contract panned out...Consider that their volume is lower than ups and their costs and cost per piece would go up there is a chance that eventually they would go kaput......Careful not to kill the golden goose...Take a gander at the companies that have gone under once they unionize..
