They used to be,the tool to buy! The few rare times a year,I go to SEARS I dont even look at tools!

I look around for any new old stock of made in the USA stuff. Found a complete 154 piece mechanics set made in USA. Selling that puppy on eBay.

One of the routes I load has Sears.,.they don't nearly the amount of packages that they used to..say 5 years ago.

No reason to do that anymore. The new tool is probably tier than the one you're returning.

The good stuff you clean and keep. The junk you exchange. Their stuff today is still ok for a budding mechanic. My 12 year old has a large toolbox already of stuff that are exchange pieces.

In a socket I really don't see the point. All you're doing is increasing your chances of rounding the nut or bolt head. Now wrenches are a whole nother story.

The fasteners inside modern engines are frequently 12 point, so you have to have them.

Ahhhh are you talking about the new spline style stuff?

Yes. High torque in a much smaller head. Clearance is a lot better with them. Rod bolts, head bolts, main caps, etc.

The engineers sure hell don't think about the people workin on the vehicle that's for sure.

I don't have anything new enough to have seen those spline fasteners. Hell actually most of what I work on is still SAE. Lol
