you already had a big money takeover of govt. how is 2020 america different than 1970 america? the govt actually worked back then, and there was social movements.

What? LOL. The 60s and 70s weren't a good time in American government or for crime rates and social unrest.

social unrest you are talking about means you are restoring justice. civil rights, enviro rights, anti war, consumer rights...all good things! and yes the US govt wasnt completely captured by money in the 60s and 70s.

US currently locks up more people per capita than those countries. It also practices the death penalty something most other developed countries dont do. and if you factor deaths and injured people from wars abroad, its hard to see how US is that different from those countries you listed.

choice is a terrible thing for some

They're being taken to jail after being read their Miranda rights. If you think in this climate, with everyone walking around with smartphones recording everything, that they are risking their livelihoods and freedom making false arrests, then you're the wingnut.
Make less arrests and watch the fun begin! Not in the places the liberal elite live of course, they are gated.

Newsweek makes a good point. Trump should pull back and let Portland burn and become a festering :censored2:hole if that's what they really want to do. But federal money shouldn't be involved in its rebuilding.
You let it burn, it's a state burden to clean it up or deal with the aftermath.

Were you alive in 1970? We were still developing then and things didn't work better. Electric went out routinely in storms, cars fell apart by 100k miles, trash was everywhere, a lot more people smoked. The list is endless. Music was better, abortion was illegal, kids got spanked, it wasn't all bad. But don't indulge in the fantasy that it was all good.

wages were still rising, america wasnt hte worlds biggest debtor nation, the govt still functioned, house prices were much lower relative to wages, college was more affordable. social movements were likely stronger than now. never said it was all good or bad. defintely worse now.

What you're missing is when it was good liberals said let's spend more on this and that. And now we're up to our necks in debt. Should've left well enough alone.

you guys cut taxes on the rich (see reagan?) and you spent your money on wall st bailouts and war. how do conservatives and liberals feel about war? who supports wall st bailouts; guessing neither do? i know the rich like both.
