Trump's secret police in Portland

Newsweek makes a good point. Trump should pull back and let Portland burn and become a festering :censored2:hole if that's what they really want to do. But federal money shouldn't be involved in its rebuilding.

They are the department of homeland security police. Slightly different than FBI hostage rescues team (HRT). Slightly different than US Marshall’s, Department of State Security, DEA police, & ICE officers. It’s actually a sweet gig.

Damn, how can one get a revolution off the ground if the government won't let you spray paint their walls or smash their windows? Unfair! Oh well, back to mom's basem...I mean, back to the drawing board!

Like this is lawful detention?
Federal law enforcement officers have used unmarked vehicles to detain protesters in Portland, according to news reports.

Videos shared online show officers driving up to people, detaining individuals without explanation, then driving off, Oregon Public Broadcastingfirst reported. Officers appeared to detain people who weren’t near federal property, and it isn't clear that all of those being arrested had committed a crime, according to OPB.

Mark Pettibone, 29, told the Washington Post and OPB that he was among those protesters grabbed off the streets of Portland. Pettibone said he was heading home from a protest with a friend early Wednesday morning when several men in green military fatigues jumped out of an unmarked gray van.
He ran, but said he was caught, detained and searched. He was taken to a federal courthouse and placed in a holding cell. Officers read him his Miranda rights and he declined to waive those rights and answer questions. Then, he was released with no record of his arrest.

What did he do at the protest that caused them to stop him and retain him? Read his Miranda rights? Wow, how authoritarian is that? Thought you were going to tell us he disappeared for 72 hours then his broken body was found dumped by the side of a road.

It's hardly storm trooper stuff and it's very telling that you think "protesters" can loot, burn, deface, and attack but oh no, the government isn't allowed to control it.

Show me your papers comrade!
They're being taken to jail after being read their Miranda rights. If you think in this climate, with everyone walking around with smartphones recording everything, that they are risking their livelihoods and freedom making false arrests, then you're the wingnut.
