Union - is it Socialism?

hey man im not the one who sees the world through a binary view of "government bad, private economy good."

your against abuses of power but in favor of capitalism :S
Yesterday you said Microwaves and vehicles were bad for the world.

Yesterday you said government was more efficient than the private sector....

Yesterday you said if a company is big it must be a monopoly! Regardless if there are 10 other competitors in the market.

Today you said you didn't want government getting in bed with corporations...yet you argue for Socialism.

Today you said you don't like government overreach.....then go on to argue in favor of socialism.

You're just another 4chan basement dweller who has no idea what the real world is like. You throw around a few economic terms and Marxist ideaology like "proletariat." Yet you can't even grasp simple ideas like why Ford is choosing to stop making cars. You also said inflation doesn't exist.....

The only one who doesn't make any sense is you. Your ideas are all over the place.

thats not what i said about any of that stuff, but there you go again back in your binary view of the world. you should re read it.

and you should check out richard wolff, michael hudson, gar alperovitz, and ralph nader for starters.

heres a clue: propaganda is often over simplifications of complex ideas.

you wanna hear about the real world. governments blowing up other countries for capitalist profit. life time of debt. low wages. high taxes on the poor. dictatorial workplaces. media saturated with lies. cynicism (you might know something about this). conformity. herd mentality. irrationality. disbelief.

i fought that :censored2: and maybe did my part with bumper stickers, most importantly my big donations to the cause, showing up to protests, wearing political shirts, going vegan, looking for the answers and listening, and working slow at my job. and this is while working full time which is more than i wanted and doing school and doing other stuff. what actions have you taken to support your political / economic philosophy?

your probably just another guy

Oh you're such a martyr!!! You wore political shirts and chose not to each animals (LOL) . Ooooo you put a bumper sticker on your car. None of that even makes a difference.

I said I disagree with taxing the poor, endless wars, over regulation. I also agree that the main media stations have clear biases. That's why you don't watch them. There are hundreds of independent news outlets and thousands around the globe...

How about be thankful UPS pays your sorry ass probably 3x the average income in your area to potentially afford a life well above the average standard if living in America which is the most free and wealthy nation in the world. Sounds a lot like a dictatorship huh?

Dude, he doesn't work for UPS, and he's Canadian. You both sound pretty ridiculous but that's just my opinion.

@rickyb your view of the world is hilarious. "Dictatorial workplaces!!"

They demand 40 hours a week, it's a dictatorship!!!
the number of hours doesnt make it a dictatorship, its being told what to do and having no voting power. this thread is about unions and its true they start to democratize the workplace, but not enough. some worker cooperatives are also unionized as well. and worker cooperatives dont have to be privatized, they could be publicly owned.

in capitalism we are choosing our dictatorship or free to start our own dictatorship.

ill take your response as you do nothing politically / economically. this makes you a bad american, which most americans are. at best they work, and thats not good enough.

see if you get enough average joes doing what im doing, then we are unstoppable.

o and the left and right agree on alot of issues. alot of it is divide and conquer tactics.

america is not the most free nation, but it is the wealthiest and it squanders it through military empire as you know,

another thing they do is get us to lower our expectations. so you have a pretty low bar for freedom.

with worker coops workers may be more incentivized to care about the business's success since they are collectively owners:

Why #coops ? well they are twice as likely to survive the first 5 yrs compared to other business models http://reports.uk.coop/economy2018/

I've actually done and continue to do a lot. Im just choosing not to share personal information with you and helping others or "making a difference" isn't about comparing how much you've done to others. But that's the attitude you have and it shows your selfish outlook on life.

America may not be the most "free" nation currently if you compare it to the freedom index. But as a whole it is the most free nation to exist historically.

I do not want to work at a co op. Wages are low. It breeds constant conflict. I would rather have profit sharing similar to how Native American tribes do it.

All this time you’ve talked about co ops. Have you ever thought of maybe SHOWING us how it works by starting just one? You could tell us about your experience, and how great it is.

Not regurgitating someone else’s opinion on how great they would be. When they, themselves have no experience with them either.

If the worlds largest economy in the world didn't have the worlds most powerful military do you think other countries would just watch us from a distance with envy. In all of human existence there has never been a period where one group is not fighting another. If we were strong economically but weak militarily how long do you think it would be before china and russia want their piece of the pie? How long before Iran developed a nuclear weapon and used it? People think we could just stop funding the military and use the money for social programs. That might work for a short period of time but it wouldn't be very long before you would have to learn a new language.

I don't think building a strong military means maintaining and fueling multi-billion dollar jets so they can then bomb a poor family in the middle east every week.
It's literally analogous to UPS spending. But also deadly and infuriating.

Less spending does not have to mean worse emergency response plans. I recall reading about a plan to cut maintenance and upgrade systems so that 33 billion could be saved every year AND would benefit cyber security. Cut $3000 to every homeless person and I would be just fine.

Maybe trump could apologize to literally every citizen in the middle east too. Since our TSA is just a facade anyways and we continue to terrorize somebody, somewhere, almost daily. Diplomacy -> peace -> less money spent on bombing people.
