Unrealistic (AKA stupid) On Demand Pickups

I let the office make ODS decisions. If im short on time, my diad message to the center usually says..... ODS will result in service failures

best to let the office "choose" service failures. Later on, when im in the office with our center manager in trouble for missing 5:00pm bus stops, I tell him the office decided for me to miss those stops

Happened to me today...

Got an ODS at a residential address, commit time 1900.

Great, no problem.

An hour later, get a 'Modify' for the ODS, changing to 1300.

Problem.

Kick it back twice, it comes back again.

No problem, I get paid hourly.

Show up at 12:55, help the customer with a ground label (he had a shipper number!!!, still took 10 min, played outside with the dog).

12:59...message from 'M*****' that she changed the commit time to 1900.

Cheers, too little, too late.

Now I'm late to pick up my helper.

Logistics.

...but wouldn't you rather work smarter than harder? If you are going to be in that area later and the business is not closing early what difference does it make what time you get there?

I really dont see how breaking off to make this pickup is working harder. I do on the other hand see it as working smarter. Smart people make more $$$.
