Have they said anything to you guys about hours of service rules changing?Routes was blown out and people are afraid to come to work.
Haven't heard a word. Management state up in the office. No PCM or anything.Have they said anything to you guys about hours of service rules changing?
It’s gonna be horrific when the dust settles. And all the tax revenue lost. It's not going to be pretty.
what does this meanWe rolled volume today
Everything didn't go out for deliverywhat does this mean
Today was a close call. It's not total volume #s (although it is still higher than normal) but a combination of call-outs and stupid start times for both drivers and preload given the circumstances (4:30 and 9:15)Routes was blown out and people are afraid to come to work.
The hourly employees are going to forget thisToday was a close call. It's not total volume #s (although it is still higher than normal) but a combination of call-outs and stupid start times for both drivers and preload given the circumstances (4:30 and 9:15)
We already filled a trailer of April 1st closures. Partly because nobody on the preload knows how to pack a trailer like an outbound loader.
"Package Division Director Denis T told Teamster officials on a conference call today that he expects large-scale layoffs at UPS during the COVID-19 pandemic due to commercial closures. The increase in residential delivery will not offset the decline in the company’s core business, Taylor said."
Yea we don’t have amazon drivers here yet so I guess I’ll be delivering their crap. Put me in coach!!!
boning the the drivers with 12-13 hr days who don't qualify for 9.5 protections.
It would definitely start off orderly like allowing you to bump inside if you are FT. I honestly believe people will permanently lose their job from this. This is a devastating hit to all walks of life.Does large scale layoffs mean we don't need you today or maybe this week, or does it mean you are no longer employed with UPS.
On the list and will be filingYou guys should have some awesome checks in the next few weeks. You on the list? Max those hours out!!!!
9.5 means more work and less chance of layoffs perhaps? In my center they are taking care of the 9.5 drivers and boning the the drivers with 12-13 hr days who don't qualify for 9.5 protections.
How would they lay off and never let them come back to work? I thought the seniority would fix that issue of picking and choosing
So you’re saying we shouldn’t crash the global economy over a flu that 80% of infected people have very minor symptoms and that currently has a spiked death rate due to lack of testing? Our economy is friend'd from people not working. There could be 20% unemployment when this is all said and done. Things don't go back to normal. Businesses die. People lose jobs. The value of the US dollar will be trashed. Federal government will be teetering on the edge of default. Hyper inflation will be close.
The world will be different. Less people able to buy stuff will mean less UPS routes. Could take years to recover... If we ever do.
Letting people get the the virus was probably a better alternative.
