Will we still have overtime if the new contract passes?

They will hire them from off the street and there will be no shortage of applicants.

The first person who comes to mind....

Will be Johny pizza delivery guy. He's used to working weekends, having no health insurance,

no pension, and won't have to beat his personal car to death.

Excessive OT and for 9.5ers, if you want OT you’ll still get plenty. Sky isn’t falling everyone

If the language does pass, it's going to be interesting to see who "opts out" of 9.5.

Personally, I think this whole 22.4 issue has been overblown by outside people.

Of course, you know my standard mantra is TDU.

And now, you have this group.

World Socialist Web Site - Marxist analysis, international working class struggles & the fight for socialism

Who do these people think they are ?

To attempt to hold conference calls with UPS Teamster members ?

The sad part being ....

Lemmings of the Teamster Union, will fall for this BS.

Idealizing communist, marxist principals, and brag about it ?

I was all set to rate this post as "informative", until the last sentence.

You're painting with an extremely broad brush, linking Socialism with Communism/Marxism.

Judge me.
I hate to break it to you guys, but your "management team" doesn't really manage anything.

They "facilitate" directives, that's it, and it's my belief that they will be directed to reduce planned OT....so kiss your late pickups goodbye.
I know. I just thought it was funny

I've been with UPS for 25 years. I've gotten 55-60 hours a week consistently even when I was a "part-timer", through every occasional flavor of the month putting enough drivers in (it does happen). If you want it it will be given to you. There is no way they can force a day off if even one 22.4 is working that day. 100% paid grievance. It blows my mind that people are worried about this. Of course UPS will count on those drivers taking the day if their route is cut. That is the drivers decision.

I'm a bit relieved now. This is going to be my first peak hopefully I can make some good OT. It also helps I still live my parents lol :D.[/QUOTE Give your mom $500 to do all your Christmas shopping and use the weekends to rest up. Save your money and take February off and go somewhere warm.

Good bye late pick ups and take the Mariners with you.

I was just wondering because I keep on hearing that with 22.4 drivers. They might take away a lot of our work.
Join feeder and be guaranteed 55-60 hours a week...

Only thing is 22.4’s won’t be working Monday’s, which will be a light volume “cut” route day.

We can't be sure of that. If this company can give all the ot to 22.4 at $19 a hour or whatever it is don't see why they wouldn't do it. This is the same place that cuts routes the day after Christmas; even though all of us have busted our tails for a month straight.

Good luck, first year of peak is a survival experience for new people like you. You can do helper/doubles/triples for 14-18 hours each day but the toll is insane, were talking sleeping in the trunk and never arriving home for multiple days.

What are you kidding? WS has set themselves up to be a human punching bag by you and the rest of the "union lemmings"
I am 3 for 3 visiting local teamsters and dsa members...No way in hell would they interfere unless it was broad bannering support for unions or a possible/active strike. This idiot website is an outlier.

Give me a break. Do you really think 22.4s will take OT away? The goal of UPS is to cut routes. It is still cheaper to pay me OT until 9pm than it is to put another truck on the road. They have to pay fuel, wear and tear, drivers pay, pension, etc etc.
But if they can advance pt timers into this permanent lesser paid ft position, red circling the pkg car drivers jobs that exist, the 25% (22.4s) will be cheaper labor.

We have 4 pt timers who have been thru integrad just waiting to qualify for ft pkg car positions. One has been waiting to qualify since February. Now why would you hold these people back if there wasnt a greater reason ahead? Theyve used vacation replacement drivers for 4 months and left the first integrad graduate working part time. There is something missing from this equation.
