Will you take SS immediately or delay like they want you to?

I took it at 62, no regrets. I did a little math, looked at my parents and siblings..2 of my siblings didn't make it to 62..enjoying it while I can.
I think the break even age if you take it at 62 instead of full retirement age is somewhere in your late seventies.
I took it at 62. I applied for disability at 64. SS denied me. Got a lawyer. My disability? Worked at UPS for 30 years. At 65 1/2 got a check from SS for back pay and another $700 a month for life.
A planned day makes a safe day.

I know a person that claimed anxiety was making her disabled. Got herself on ssi, total bull. Goes on vacations all the time.

No accountability, no follow-up.
Mental health excuse is a lot easier to get than a real physical disability

Vacations help relieve anxiety.
I'm glad we as Americans could help with her condition. /S

Retired 2020. Not my Problem Anymore!
Both of my parents are still alive and well at 83 and 85. I’m 60 and don’t smoke or drink. I take no medication and I have no aches or pains (amazing I can say that after 39+ years of UPS). I don’t need the money so I’m waiting till 67 to collect. I don’t plan on waiting any longer than that but I will see in 7 more years. Living for tomorrow and not today has done me well in life so I don’t plan on changing something that has worked very well for me so far.

So, you're going to do that without drawing any SS? My point was waiting until your 70.
No, I plan to take mine as soon as possible. The point I’m making is not everything revolves around money. Truth be told that pathetic return on my money that I’m getting from Social Security is a travesty. If I had that money myself I could retire much earlier thanks to this socialist government program. I’m locked in at least till 62 possibly even 67 or higher if they so choose to move it, that’s what happens when it’s not really your money anymore.
