UPS Says It Can Handle Both Vaccine Rollout, Holiday Parcel Rush – MSN

United Parcel Service Inc. says it has the capacity to handle both the rollout of coronavirus vaccines and an unprecedented holiday package rush this month following investments in automation, tracking technology and dry-ice production.

The courier is the primary end-to-end distributor for Pfizer Inc.’s vaccine, as well as for kits to prepare the shots and dry ice shipments to keep the inoculations at extremely cold temperatures, UPS sales chief Kate Gutmann said in an interview. The vaccine and kits will have tracking devices that allow shipments to be monitored at all times.

“We’re planning enough capacity on the ground and in the air to make sure that there is no limit around the UPS side,” Gutmann said.

UPS driver reports being threatened in Falls – Niagara Gazette

A UPS driver contacted Falls police Saturday after two people began threatening and harassing him following the delivery of a suspicious package to a Welch Avenue address.

The deliveryman said he dropped off a package on the 1700 block of Welch Avenue about 11:20 a.m. Saturday. The driver told officers that the package was “strange” and was heavily wrapped in tape but felt as if it were empty.

After dropping the package off, the deliveryman said he saw two Black males in their teens or early 20s with dreads that came down to their ears get into a car with dark-tinted windows and begin following him. Pulling up next to another UPS driver on the 200 block of Third Street, the driver said the two males approached him and accused him of taking the contents from the delivered package. The driver said he contacted his supervisor and the two males left.

Delivery driver left in tears after opening son’s heartbreaking letter to Santa – Mirror

A dad has said he was left in tears after reading the letter his young son had asked him to send to Santa.

The parent, who works as a delivery driver, had a sneaky look at the message his child had written to ensure he was passing on the correct wish list to Father Christmas, but instead found an emotional message which is leaving people “heartbroken”.

The dad shared a picture of the note, which was handwritten in pencil, on Reddit and it quickly went viral with the caption: “I’m a UPS driver and I cried when I opened up our son’s letter to Santa.”

It reads: “Dear Santa, I would really like to spend more time with my dad, so I would really love and appreciate it if you could help him get off work early because he is a UPS worker and people are ordering so many presents.

UPS Told Drivers to Stop Picking Up Packages From These 6 Retailers. It’s a Critical Lesson in Managing Expectations – Inc

Many years ago, I worked for FedEx. I was in sales, and I remember a manager telling our team that our biggest competitive challenge wasn’t pricing or quality. No, the biggest challenge was that every time we walked into a business to talk about switching to FedEx, inevitably the thought that would go through their mind was that it would mean they were firing their UPS driver.

“But we really like Mike. He’s been picking up and delivering packages here for as long as I can remember.” Our manager was right, it was a real thing that would happen–and more often than you might think.

Now, however, if you’re one of 6 retailers, Mike isn’t stopping by today. The Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday that UPS told its drivers to stop collecting deliveries from Nike, Gap, Macy’s, L.L. Bean, Hot Topic, and Newegg when those companies reach their capacity.
