UPS to roll out major pricing revamp as it benefits from network efficiency steps – Freightwaves

UPS Inc. (NYSE: UPS) is in the midst of a major transformation of its pricing structure – the byproduct of which could be major rate reductions for many shippers – as the shipping and logistics giant improves the efficiency of its package flow and builds shipment density in ways it has been unable to do before.

According to Rob Martinez, CEO of parcel consultancy Shipware, LLC, employees in UPS’ revenue management operations, the group that along with its executive leadership manages the company’s pricing initiatives, are currently being trained on the new structure. Armed with the retooled pricing, UPS’ sales force will then pitch its own customers, as well as those shipping with rivals like FedEx Corp. (NYSE:FDX), UPS’ chief competitor in the U.S. market, Martinez said. Martinez discussed the UPS initiatives during a presentation last Thursday at the Home Delivery World annual conference in Philadelphia.

Human Rights Campaign survey shows most, least LGBTQ-friendly companies – Freight Waves

The Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRCF) published the 2019 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), identifying the most and least LGBTQ-inclusive companies in America and illustrating the gap in equality within the freight industry.

CEI scores are given to measure the treatment of LGBTQ employees and are based on a company’s non-discrimination policies, employment benefits, efforts to support an inclusive culture and responsible citizenship.

Many freight industry companies like American Airlines, Uber and UPS earned perfect scores of 100 on the CEI, while some like JB Hunt, C.H. Robinson and XPO came up short.

President Trump says he intends to nominate Jovita Carranza, the U.S. treasurer, to lead the Small Business Administration after former pro-wrestling executive Linda McMahon announced last week that she was stepping down.

“I am pleased to announce that Jovita Carranza will be nominated as the new @SBAgov Administrator,” Trump said Thursday evening on Twitter. “Jovita was a great Treasurer of the United States — and I look forward to her joining my Cabinet!”

Carranza also spent more than two decades at United Parcel Service, according to her Treasury Department bio. Starting as a night-shift box handler, she climbed the ladder to become president of Latin America and Caribbean operations and the highest-ranking Latina in the company’s history.

Veteran says speeding UPS truck killed his service dog – KOIN

‘Taz’ was hit and killed in a Forest Grove mobile home park

A Forest Grove man said his service dog was hit and killed by a UPS truck speeding through his mobile home park.

Brian Lewis said the truck hit his chihuahua-corgi mix named Taz on Tuesday around noon in the Rose Grove Mobile Home Community. He said the truck was traveling too fast through an area where kids play when it struck Taz, sending the little dog flying.

“[The driver] didn’t even seem fazed by it,” said Lewis.
