The UPS Foundation Mobilizes Its Disaster Relief Network By Land, Sea And Air To Support Cyclone And Flooding Relief Efforts

  • The UPS Foundation is coordinating with United Nations partners to speed food and supplies to impacted communities in Mozambique and Malawi
  • Efforts continue in collaboration with relief organizations to provide safe shelter, food and relief supplies to victims of the recent tornados and floods in the U.S. Midwest

UPS (NYSE: UPS) today announced relief efforts are underway to bring critical supplies and food to victims of the recent cyclone that slammed into East Africa and the tornadoes and floods that devastated parts of the U.S. Midwest. Collaborations between The UPS Foundation and leading humanitarian relief organizations are bringing urgent relief by land, sea and air.

The number of people impacted by Cyclone Idai has climbed to more than 3 million people, with 500 people reported dead, a number that’s been projected to increase. As flood waters slowly recede, UPS and The UPS Foundation continue to engage in close collaborations with the UN Logistics Cluster and relief organizations including The World Food Programme, UNICEF, UNHCR, CARE and MedShare.

UPS has brought how many companies to Louisville? (PHOTOS)- Louisville Business First

More than 200 companies have relocated or moved parts of their operation to the Louisville region in order to be close to United Parcel Service Inc.’s Worldport facility, according to new economic impact study on UPS.

Worldport is the Atlanta-based shipping giant’s largest air package sorting hub and it’s located at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport. The study, which was not released to the press in full because it included proprietary UPS information, was conducted by Manoj Shanker of Frankfort, Ky.-based Meench & Shanker LLC.

First FAA sanctioned use of a drone for routine revenue flights involving the transport of a product under a contractual delivery agreement

UPS (NYSE:UPS) today announced a groundbreaking new logistics service to deliver medical samples via unmanned drones through a collaboration with Matternet, a leader in autonomous drone technology. The program is taking place at WakeMed’s flagship hospital and campus in the Raleigh, N.C., metropolitan area, with oversight by the Federal Aviation Administration and North Carolina Department of Transportation. Today’s flight marks the beginning of numerous planned daily revenue flights at the WakeMed Raleigh campus.

UPS driver taken hostage thanks officers, his company and community – ABC 7

On Thursday, February 14, an armed hijacking led to a wild chase, and eventually several intense hours of hostage negotiation in San Jose.

The man forced behind the wheel at gunpoint was UPS driver, Mitch Ellerd.

Ellerd spoke exclusively about the ordeal with ABC7 News.

“I was just in a situation that nobody wanted to be a part of,” Ellerd admitted.
