In my hub, we are all known as cover drivers. If we were describing a temporary cover driver, we just call them "Temps". I've never heard anyone where i am use the term "utility" driver

Our are called PT Cover drivers, Casuals, Covers. We just got 2 FT casual routes added last bid. Before that, the only casuals we had were temps/pt whatever you want to call them. They went back to their regular sort(metro, preload), if they weren't working 2 or more days a week. If they do, they have the option to not work their regular sort. We don't hire seasonal drivers. Just send PT'ers to school for pt casual.

"tcd's" Where I am, are allowed to turn in 8/hr requests, two per month and also file 9.5 violations if the route is 9.5.

Oh btw. They also pick vacation with the ft drivers not preload or metro even though that is their primary.
