Benefits and Short Term Disability during a strike?

I have a surgery planned that will include short-term disability past Aug.1. This is not a work related injury.

In the event of a strike, would disability still pay past Aug.1?

Related question: can I assume that our regular medical benefits are suspended during a strike?

I got injured while on strike in '97 or so......they would not pay short term disability any time we were off. Then it didn't start covering it until two or three weeks after the strike was settled. Good luck.
