Pees in the brown Koolaid
Anybody have any customers who grow dope?
I know of at least 4 of them on my route. Here in Oregon it is legal to grow a small amount for medical use if you have a medical marijuana card from your doctor, or you can join a co-op and hire somebody to grow it in larger quantites.
The odor is a dead giveaway. I have one guy whose weed is so pungent that I can smell it from inside the truck 100 yards down the driveway from his house. His garage windows are covered up with cardboard and there are ventilator fans blowing thru vents in the roof. Another customer has a newly built shed next to his house with an extension cord and a garden hose running out to it. Its pretty easy to spot a home growing operation once you catch a whiff and know what to look for.
I actually told one customer that I could smell his weed and that he might want to make some changes to his ventilation system. Normally I would mind my own business but this guy had a really sweet pit bull dog that I had grown to like and the thought of the police shooting it during a raid was more than I could stand. The guy told me that he had a card and was legal to grow, but he was still concerned about criminals trying to rip him off. He was so accustomed to the odor that he could barely smell it any more, so he was grateful that I let him know.
