Discrimination That Neither Management Nor Union Wants To Acknowledge

I live and work in a very politically correct part of the country. One of the UPS supervisors is/was having a long term gay relationship with two of the part time union workers. Both of these union members miss about 50% to 75% of the time, come in late, come in very high, etc. This same UPS manager also started "dating" a female union member, and several people (both union and management) complained to HR, despite the fact that there was no visible favortism that was more than evident with the two gay union members that he was also dating....So I guess I can conclude from this that UPS is okay with gay dating and favortism but still adamant about not having UPS supervisors/managers engage in personal relationships with union members of the opposite sex.

I also have an African American union member who continually (two years ongoing now) violates my seniority with regards to who gets to leave work first. Both of these issues (I believe) stem from our current obsession of being politically correct, and both have been dealt with in a dog and pony show manner by both management and the union when I tried to address these issues. So who do you turn to for relief....?

Thank You,

Well at least someone has time to get laid. I am too busy working on Grievances and hours to worry who is rockin. I think cut the ViagraViagra

No, we both have other jobs and we both want to leave as early as possible in order to get to the other jobs. UPS has allowed the guy with less seniority to leave at about 7:00 am every day regardless of how busy we are....They "let" me leave after him, usually when things have slowed down...

Call your local EEOC office..Make an appointment, do not go online and fill out the complaint..Nothing will get done if you do it that way.. Here they open at 9 close at 5. Go there with all the information you have, names, dates etc..the more the better.. They will file a charge and UPS will have to answer to them.. According to federal law they can not retaliate against you and if they do, they have just violated a federal law.. Document everything..If something is said to you in reference to the charge , write down what is said, who said it and what date, and if there are any witnesses.. In reference to a Sup dating hourlies, I think he can get fired for that.. They are not suppose to fraternize with the hourlies, weather they are male or female.. One sup who did this here was fired..

That changed years ago.
UPS does not prohibit fraternization with the opposite sex (or same sex) anymore regardless of the weather.
Of more concern, my wife never changed her position.

While they should let the Higher paid person go home first, they do not have to. It is Just nice and respectful of the seniority order to do it that way. Your seniority only guarantees you the Work, not the go home early.

HERE, seniority rules. Senior people have the option to "stay or go".

RealPerson is right, seniority allows you to work, although they should always follow the seniority order in letting people go home, it really never works out that way. FT and PT are a different animal altogether. You being a PT worker, you may be a better worker than the person they are letting go early.
On a different note, I remember people calling up (FT) the supervisor from home and asking whether or not they had to come in for work that day. It always seemed to be the same people and the seniority sheet was never checked on these cases. Purely it was who they liked more.

Seniority prevails in all situations.

Why do we need to know the union members race? Purpose?
