I live and work in a very politically correct part of the country. One of the UPS supervisors is/was having a long term gay relationship with two of the part time union workers. Both of these union members miss about 50% to 75% of the time, come in late, come in very high, etc. This same UPS manager also started "dating" a female union member, and several people (both union and management) complained to HR, despite the fact that there was no visible favortism that was more than evident with the two gay union members that he was also dating....So I guess I can conclude from this that UPS is okay with gay dating and favortism but still adamant about not having UPS supervisors/managers engage in personal relationships with union members of the opposite sex.
I also have an African American union member who continually (two years ongoing now) violates my seniority with regards to who gets to leave work first. Both of these issues (I believe) stem from our current obsession of being politically correct, and both have been dealt with in a dog and pony show manner by both management and the union when I tried to address these issues. So who do you turn to for relief....?
