Does our insurance cover visits to a psychiatrist?

So my fractured shoulder that will have me out of my package car on my couch for the next 2-3 months is mental and I should suck it up and go back to work? I'll call my boss now and let him know I'll be back Monday. Thanks Doc*!!!

Med school dropouts are usually chiropractors. Some medical knowledge but not real doctors.

A lot of people don't like chiropractors. I've got one I see maybe once every couple of years if I over work something. I threw my back out a couple weeks ago shoveling a bunch of pea-rock and two trips to my chiropractors office for some med-evil torture I was a new man again. He's good.

They can be very good to very bad. They might help you or mess you up worse.

Between Doctors Wilson and Austin, BCers need never leave their houses to get a medical or psychological diagnosis. Awesome!
Doctor Austin had better carry loads of malpractice insurance.

Just like the title says, too embarrassed to ask anyone at work.

Absolutely don't ask around at work. According to the U3 plan (UPS employees that entered CS H&W post-2013) which should be comparable to the other plans, cost for an in-network behavioral specialist or a substance abuse specialist is 20% after deductible for outpatient services. Maxes out to 30 days per calendar year, which is substandard in my opinion and doesn't even allow for one visit per week.

You didn't mention specifics and I'm not assuming you have any substance abuse issues, but will just state this for anyone else reading: If at all possible, never use the company program for substance abuse and use your insurance instead. If inpatient services are needed, use short term disability and/or FMLA to maintain benefits. While everything is supposed to be confidential, managers and supervisors gossip like a bunch of :censored2:ing hens and there's a good chance half your center will know within a week of you pulling the trigger.

One last thing: good on you for asking and realizing you need help. A lot of people have been there in the past but will never admit it, and talking to someone can help immensely to get you back on track.

Typical office visit to a shrink:

You sit down hoping the Phd has answers.

They sit down and start asking questions like... whats bothering you? Why do you think that? What do you think you should do?

In most case than doesn't include medication ( I would resist med's unless its that or a stay in a institution) a good size mirror and some real honesty coupled with acceptance and courage to change will do just fine.
The 1970s would like their view on mental health back.
He does have a point.

The mind can cure most ills and placebos work wonders.
Not even surprised you would agree.

90% of all injuries physical and mental are cured by the mind & body not by doctors or medicine.

Actually, I see no contradiction between what he said and what your body will go through as this fractured shoulder heals. Your body is fixing up that fracture. It might need 2 to 3 months to do so.

Remember, Wilson said "cured by the mind and body", not "caused".

You're not completely wrong but I would say your percentage is way off. There is a reason life expectancy is longer today than it was 100 years ago and it's directly related to our advances in medicine and a few other things.
