Transfer issues

UPS let feeder driver transfer hubs and now UPS is revoking their transfer. Union had a hearing and told UPS they skipped over a package driver that was in the new hub that wanted it. Feeder driver is being told to return back to their old hub after 9 months of doing the job. Old hub is 3 hours away. They sold their house there. After getting the ok from UPS, they purchased a house in the new area. Now they have to relocate back.

Ever heard of anything like this?
Any thoughts?

Lots of changes of Ops coming in my neck of the woods allegedly in the next 3 months. I think most of our commutes will be an hour to work and an hour to route… seems to me it is out of spite for the teamsters cleaning their clock on the new contract!

There’s only 1 Feeder spot out of new hub. Not enough work for a back up position. Feeder driver was promised full time feeder position before accepting transfer. 10 years with UPS as a feeder driver. They never did package.

Side note:
Feeder driver had name on master transfer list for the feeder position on Jan 2022 and Jan 2023. They should’ve been allowed to transfer in 2022, but wasn’t because either the new local union or new hub supervisor block the transfer. Supervisor was doing some weird :censored2:. She was later fired. The package driver who had just transferred to the hub just prior to the feeder driver supposedly had his name on the list. Package driver filed a grievance and they awarded him the job. Union said UPS skipped over him.

Very complex case. Any thoughts?

The driver has been transferred for over 9 months…there’s no way in hell they should have to go back…any BA should be able to shut that down right then and there. Never heard of that happening but it’s on the company.

Depends when the point of knowledge occurred and how long the grievance took to settle. I feel for the guy but I don't know if there is going to be anything he can do.

The guy that got the original transfer. He never should have got it but the company screwed up And he is the one that's gonna have to pay for it in the end.
Well, yet another reason that the Western Supplement isn’t that great. Keep collecting those part time pension payments for the rest of us.….😉

Buddy said the BA is working with the other guy. No rep from the union. They’ve said UPS made the mistake now you got to eat it. UPS said they would pay for some moving boxes. Maybe a moving truck. They haven’t made it clear how transferring back would even work. Supposedly keep their original seniority? That’ll go over well with everyone there.

They sold their house and purchased a new one. Now, gotta do it all over again after 6 months. :censored2:ing crazy.

Yeah…ups should be on the hook for this… I’ve seen many transfers in the west but nothing go wrong like this…. Especially the house and kids going to have to be put into another school. So what state was this in???

All is well @Coldworld. A UPS career is like the stock market, lows and highs, in the end things work out.

Dude needs to rent a room near the old hub until a spot opens back up in new hub if that is where you want to live. Go home on days off. It sucks but that's how it is.

Maybe volunteer for team driving until a spot opens. If you have to live away from home all week, might as well earn some big bucks.

It just sucks that after 9 months something is finally said…should never have got this far into it.
