I'm currently a swing driver and I generally work 5 days a week. But during the slow periods I get sent i'm e 1-2 days a week. I happen to love by a big city and was wondering if I could work as an Uber driver on my days off. Would this violate the contract at all?

You would be fine as long as you adhere to the Hours of Service requirements.

As long as you don't violate DOT rules, you should be good.

Uber currently is not restricted by DOT or HOS laws. So would I only have to worry about my UPS hours?

  5. Those count against your UPS DOT hours.

Even if you didn't drive, all paid hours count towards your DOT hours, if you drive with UPS a minute.

So any hours in your personal vehicle count for DOT hours?

  8. And you must have the correct number of off duty hours in-between shifts.

  9. No. Just Any other job that you work counts against the 60 hour rule.

    If you're getting paid, yes

How would paid hours work though? You only get paid if you pick someone up and drop them off so your not technically on the clock for Uber the whole time.

  12. You also got to watch you hours in-between shifts or you can get into trouble.

So when they make me ride as a helper when I've hit 60 hours that's illegal? Or no cause I'm not driving?

You can work up to 70 hours but can only drive for 60.

  15. They can do that. Just as long as your not driving over 60

Working counts against your 60, you cannot drive until you have your reset, or hours fall off.

In addition to the hours of service, i signed up to do uber a while before i came to ups and months after i stopped doing it my insurance company found out i was signed up with uber and dropped me like a hot potato. Food for thought.

  20. That's another thought. You hate to get into am accident and lose everything, because you wasn't properly insured.
