I never heard him say primary when he was talking about self-funding.
But it doesn't matter, his primary campaign wasn't self-funded either.

I think there were lots of reasons.
One of which was that they knew from the start he couldn't win a general election, it's a numbers game, you can't alienate every latino voter and win.
