Jim Jones referred to traditional Christianity's view of God as a "Sky God" who was "no God at all". Instead, Jones claimed to be following the true God who created all things. Jones increasingly promoted the idea of his own divinity, going so far as to tell his congregation that "I am come as God Socialist."

Why not worship this guy? He declared himself divine.
He's still in the grave feeding the worms.

Well, when he raises himself from the grave, I will listen to what he has to say.

Thanks for pointing out the context.
The Riddler never considers context. Thanks for blowing the cover off.
I do consider context, it is the precise reason I say water baptism is a picture of the one true baptism.
I was responding to a person that was under the impression that Jesus was running around the countryside proclaiming to be God.

He did not.

Jesus was speaking to scribes and Pharisees, Jews versed in the Law.
His mission, as The eternal God, was to die, not only for the sins of the Jews, but the sins of the world.

If the Jews had accepted Him, He would have assumed His place on the throne of David as the King of the Jews and the cross would have been averted, that was not the work He was sent to do.

I should have been clearer, I was incorrect in saying He never made the claim.

He did not run around proclaiming to be God if he did there would be no reason for this

Matthew 16 15-17

15He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

16And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

17And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

That is from a disciple

@Fred's Myth,
This may be splitting hairs, but I was quoting Jesus claiming His divinity, rather than admitting to it.;)

I tied you in only to see my response to what @BrownFlush said when referring to "the riddler" , his reference to me. The man didn't have the guts to say @floridays.

I'm well aware Jesus said "I Am" and I know exactly what that meant.

My argument was not with you, I had none with @BrownFlush on this matter either, my point was to a scoffer, a denier that asserted essentially that Jesus was running around claiming to be God.
Literally he didn't, in offering questions he did.

example

Matthew 9:5
5 For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk?

I understand who has that power, it is God, no one walking the earth before or since has had that power, yet Jesus did not say he was God, literally.

Many today think a person can heal, the apostles healed, many think a man can forgive, or absolve sin by "devine" appointment today, only God can,

In that way Jesus proclaimed himself to be God, He never took glory for Himself, He always deferred to His Father.

That is my understanding.

You understand how I deal, now enter our baptistry on your way out and we'll wash away your sin. @BrownFlush.

Abortions will not stop---only SAFE abortions will.

Will be interesting to see how things shake out. Think I saw Ali Velshi on MSNBC the other day working with interview guests to push the idea that covert medication abortions should become a big thing in states where abortion is banned.

I certainly wouldn't mind there being fewer late term abortions if heavily pregnant women don't have readily available access for their 6-9 monther to be cut/drilled and vacuumed out.

You clowns are running around with your hair on fire, you included @rod.
Do me one big favor, read Roe and tell me if you want to abide by it.

I agree with the reasoning in Alito's draft ruling. The Roe decision was highly flawed. Ginsburg knew it and openly expressed concern that it would not provide durable protection for abortion rights.

That's the thing. If anyone, especially the screeching feminists on Instagram, actually objectively reads the Roe decision they'll realize just how poorly written of a decision it actually was. Even RBG stated the decision could easily be overturned by the Court

They won’t read it, they don’t even understand what the pre-print means. They listen to talking points and are running around the nation screaming abortion is going to be outlawed, and people are buying coat hangers as we speak. There’s no logic, only emotion.

Is this the end product of trying to shape society, rather than educate it in our schools?

Of course it is.
