100 pound boxes coming down the shoot

Not to derail your thread but what bothers me even more than this is packages that are clearly being significantly underweighed by one particular shipper with nothing being done about it. Also pretty bad are the "69 lb" packages that are just barely smaller than the dimensions for an irreg.

Bring it up with your supervisor and give them a chance to work on it IMO. If no change then file on it. We're under pressure to work as quickly as possible, not as safely as possible. Management has to ease up and encourage people to process irregs correctly.

I have on several occasions,which I mentioned in my grievance this has been a problem for a few months that is getting worse everyday.Aside from the safety hazard,the over 70's create jams,break equipment,and damage packages.

Does nobody know what a belt tender is? Packages need to be sorted before going to outbound.

We don’t have smart scales or whatever that is is my hub. We are auto.

I've seen the hub reports. To be honest I'm kinda impressed the implementation is that bad. If I'd ever picked off with that missort frequency for my belt...

right someones unloading those packages . a union brother unloader or in my experience drivers that unload parts of their package cars. Management is not getting fired some unloader is getting his job threatened by that supervisor first. a wise man once said generals rarely die in the wars its always the privates.

Update,I spoke with ba and building manger,but I am still getting them I am documenting them and filing on them. It's only a matter of time before some gets seriously hurt.

You must get a chubby with help of viagra of course every time someone posts in this thread.When you worked in the warehouse back in the stone age I imagine the weight limit on packages was 50 lbs.So you have no clue about how it runs now. Packages flying off the extendos and rollers at high speed,crushed packages,getting a 90 pounder using the extendo and using the load stand using finishing the top row good times. Hell someone had to explain to you how an automated warehouse worked.Yet you keep trolling this thread and evey post makes you look like an idiot that is out of touch with reality.Why don't you stick to current events,because you are totally lost and clueless here.Hope this helps.

shall be considered to be irregular shipments and will not be
co-mingled with under 70 pound regular packages. No over 70
pound packages will be placed onto the belt, box line or slide sys-
tems used for under 70 pound package operations, except as pro-
vided in the Employer’s standard irregular handling practices and
in accordance with safe packages handling procedures.

This might be a bigger issue than you think. In some hubs the packages come from chutes the equivalent of a second or third story of a building, so an overweight package coming down at full speed could absolutely seriously injure someone.

If the issue is union employees potentially getting in trouble, he should find out whos doing it and talk to them about it before going to management. And dont do it while pissed off or it might start an ego battle.

It is a bigger issue than it seems. All of our doors that use rollers have broken and missing rollers they refuse to fix, combine that with over 70's coming down it's a recipe for disaster.
