I hate those things !! grabbed one today from the Worcester Rail, again no zip ties ....

Don't worry about the zip ties. Worry about the safety latches and retaining pins.

We have started breaking the zip ties off once we get to the rail yard so the next guy won't just glance, see zip ties, and look no further. You'd be amazed at the number of bad trls I find with zip ties on them.

Today I've found 6 bad trls on property, one sitting on top of its rf pin that had made a trip across town from the rail yard.
