My understanding is that any hours on duty for any employer counts against your 60 for DOT.
I've thought about getting a job on Sunday at Home Depot because in MA they pay time and a half on Sunday. I decided against it because work at UPS already takes up enough of my time and I don't NEED
the money.
If I did NEED
the money I would take the job and work 10 hours. That would leave me with 50 for UPS. I don't see how they would have a problem with this except for late November and December.
I've never heard of an employee at UPS catching any flack for working a second job outside of UPS.
My theory is, we don't need a second job. I average about 5 hours OT per week. That equals about $210 dollars
. To me, that is my second job! I would need to work at Wal-Mart for 20 hours to make that extra money!
When you think about it, we have it pretty good at UPS as drivers.
We are heading towards reccesion
, yet we will still get 9 hours a day working at UPS. I'd be hard pressed to find another company paying overtime during an economic downturn!
Sorry, I was having fun playing with the smile list
