APWA Update: Indianapolis, Ind. Center

How can you say you could offer better representation when you don't have ANY members? You have no members, you have no leverage. But if you have 1.4 million TEAMSTERS behind you, you get attention. And you get results.

As for a pension, you want these guys to pull out of Central States and start a new pension from scratch? How much are they going to have to pay you so you (eh hem) they can retire early?

And if you start pulling money out of the central states fund everyone loses, even those who foolheartedly join your sham. Why? because if you weaken it enough it will have to be turned over the government and everyone -- workers and retirees, your son, your dad and grandfather -- gets an even lower pension. So you're SCREWING everyone.

I really question the motivation of someone who would rather tear down the union for their own greedy purposes than work to make it stronger for future generations -- younger workers just coming up.

Re: Nospinzone is Skillman? Here is the truth!!!

IT is obvioius that NOSPINZONE is either Skillman or his puppet. The base truth of the writings nearly mirrors the "out right lies" that Skillman and Eason put out. I have set through a meeting with Skillman and Eason and I have talked to them. I am telling everyone the truth here. THESE TWO ARE SCAMMERS AND SCHEMERS in the worst possible way. They are worse than a Judas as they not only are trying to enrich themselves on our concerns over our nations economy on our pensions, but they confess to play footsie with UPS while doing it. HERE IS THE TRUTH.

I care about my UPS Teamster brethren and retirees and someone needs to tell folks what the people who really know Skillman and Eason know about them and want you to know.

(THIS IS FROM THE MOUTHS OF SKILLMAN AND EASON from APWA>

(Stated at a meeting they tried to hold in Memphis, Tn. Attendance total including the two=8)

Skillman and Eason say:

1. The UPS company helped them pick APWA's attorney, Francis Coleman, but they have signed a "NO CONFLICT AGREEMENT". THey said they were aware that he is the writer of a book on how to keep unions out and advertises his court cases on taking benefits from workers. Also, Eason said that UPS helped them by doing research for them to start their "Union?"".

2. The told us that there is no need for a Strike Fund (that APWA DOES NOT HAVE), because they can TRUST UPS to give them a fair contract.

3. They told us they are not like our Teamsters Locals. They will tell anything we ask. They recently put that in one of their newsletters also. OKAY, so why when we asked them how many members they have, and how much money they have, and why are they begging for $12.50 a piece from members for 'PUBLICITY" did they and have they continued to refuse to answer the questions.

And more lies FROM them, and facts ABOUT them:

1. Their main representative in Ohio is Ron Roberts. He includes the National Right to Work committees slogan on his own personal letterhead. The APWA has a RIGHT TO WORK instruction on their web page telling HOW TO GET OUT OF THE UNION! APWA says they do not care if people belong, and they should not have to belong. HOW STRONG IS THAT?? WHAT KIND OF UNION IS THAT? IT SOUNDS LIKE THE UNION THAT UPS WANTS!!

2. Teamsters from their own home local will tell you, the 3200 members there all recognize the scam. Only about 25 workers, mostly scabs, have anything to do with them. They don't even try to have meetings there. IT is better than a pyramid, only two get the money. And all the while, UPS gets the by product of APWA doing their underhandedness and lying.

3. Why does Skillman treat Eason like a lap dog? He lets him print the newsletters, ""CORRECTION""" he lets him SIGN the newsletters, that are written by someone else. We have seen old greivance write ups and Eason couldn't write that well. The letters look more like a SKILLMAN speech because they are full of lies and exaggerations like SKILLMAN talks. Here where they live, we say, "If their mouth is moving, they are lying" and that is the TRUTH about Skillman and Eason.

4. Eason used to profess be a Christian type gentleman and respected that. But now, Skillman has used him and enveloped him in the lies to help bilk the money out of those that do not know them and their scam. Judas Begat Judas. Raliegh fellow workers say that Eason has joined the "money changers in the temple" and abandoned his Christianity for a share of the Pyramid Pie. They don't have to make much off the scheme. It is all profit, all cash, and all from trusting workers. These two make used car salesmen look like saints.

Mittam says "UPS brought us to the dance?" Mittam says he is Buckeye Proud? Is that OHIO? Lets see. According to the APWA newsletter and flyers, Ron Roberts, advocate for the National Right to Work Committee, and Rick Ford, ex-UPS manager, now driver, with letter back in to get to management are the people that Skillman says are "his guys in Ohio"? No wonder we get a COMPANY response from BUCKEYE.

Ron?? Rick?? Danny?? Van??? Are their 4 people splitting the "scammed proceeds"?

a company response, you are flat out crazy, the thread I qouted said "the teamsters brought us to the dance" when did the teamsters start hiring for UPS? That is what I was saying the teamsters don't hire you in UPS does but you are too much of a derelict to be able to read,as for Skillman and Eason they are 2 of the most decent guys I have ever met, Unless you are in their shoes you have no right to judge the character of these two men maybe you don't agree with what they are doing but that gives you no right to run your mouth about their religion or character.......oh I forgot you are the typical teamster thug

OK lets not judge skillman & eason on their character, they lied in the business first article about when they quit paying dues and how much their monthly pension is, they claim care about families so much they ask for the so called members spouses to give them money also, they will not give the numbers of paid members in their so called union, they wont tell how much money is in their treasury, their attorney has written books on how employers can remain union free, and how to get out of union contracts, taught seminars on how employers can lessen health benefits, etc. Dont know about their religion but I dont think they are men of character.

From what I can tell both organizations are bull****. The teamsters don't want to give you the pension that we should be getting, and the APWA wants to sell us out to UPS management. Makes me glad I registered for another semester at school so maybe I can jump out of this rat race.

bret the APWA is not going to sell us out to management they are here to have a union just for UPS hourly employees, they are to have a meeting for upsers in Indy soon,go hear it when they do, at least attend and hear what they have to say then make up your mind, as I say at least hear what they have to say, after that I support what ever one has to say, If you like it fine if not that is your choice,

I don't think they would want me at their meeting. I would be grilling them with questions and I WILL NOT accept any answers like "e-mail us and we can better explain" or "go look at the website" or other such nonsense meant to divert me away from the truth like they have in other meetings I have heard about. If they can't answer all my questions fully and thoroghly and to meet my expectations I will not even begin to support them. Keep in mind I am not pro-teamster, or pro-APWA, I am pro-information and I do not like being fed a bunch of pie in the sky as I won't eat it up like you do. I usually trust my gut feelings in situations like these and it is to stay far away from this organization as nothing good will come from it.

Shaky

You’re reaching here and its pretty obvious. It doesn’t take much effort to type out a message full of empty accusations, as you have demonstrated. If you look at my posts, I’ve sourced my shots at the IBT. But I guess that since you have told the world on BrownCafe that Danny Eason is akin to Judas, that you have first hand knowledge of his prayer life….or that God has appeared to you in a dream and felt that He needed to share with you the balance in Danny’s personal checking account. You wanna talk about Judas…..while the good people in Central States, who have faithfully and trustingly contributed their money over the past thirty years, will be drawing around $3000 a month MINUS THE INCREASED INSURANCE PREMIUMS, your all-knowing el-Presidente (J.P. Hoffa) is pulling in just below $300,000 a year,,, that’s on the books. Gee….wonder how his pension is doing? Keegel….$281,976 Good ole “Jack” Cipriani from the Raleigh district you speak of….$158,216. Mr hall…..$141,267. (source: US Dept of Labor Union Filings) Theyre just sucking this UPS gravy train dry. And you have the audacity to impugn the integrity of these two guys from North Carolina who WERE GOING TO RETIRE INTO OLD AGE, LIKE THE REST OF THE LONG TIMERS AT BROWN, PRIOR TO THE CUTS IN CENTRAL STATES PENSION PAYOUTS???? Please, Shaky…..show us how APWA is using the contributions of its members for personal gain. Ask your sources in Raleigh if Danny is driving up in the new 7 series BMW or show us the statements of his off-shore account where he’s padding up to buy his 40 ft yacht to live on down in the Florida Keys. Give us something that makes us believe you have one ounce of credibility. Thing is you cant. Because it doesn’t exist. And when you look at the reality of the situation, and add up the expenses they have incurred to travel across the country and back, and to distribute printed materials and to pay for legal expenses, there just aint no money left over to buy a frosty at Wendy’s. Maybe you should ask ‘ole JP or Jack to buy that frosty for ya. Integrity,,,,I dare you to go find an ounce of that up in Chicago. Raleigh has all it needs for now. As for the rest of your weak accusations…..

I dont know where you came up with this "NO CONFLICT AGREEMENT"...Employers are require by law not to interfere or support organizing efforts in their workplace. It's called the NLRA. Do the Teamsters a favor and send the NLRB a copy of this "NO CONFLICT AGREEMENT" and the NLRB will shut down the APWA tonight. I wont be holding my breath on this one.

2. The told us that there is no need for a Strike Fund (that APWA DOES NOT HAVE), because they can TRUST UPS to give them a fair contract.

This is a lie that 'ole Dougy Norris is probably feeding you. Doug gets paid $94,000 a year as the international VP to travel to the APWA meetings for the purpose of intimidation or disruption. How many carhaulers did he take to the Memphis meeting, Shaky? In every meeting ive been to, the approach to negotiations that Danny and Van has is that UPS CANNOT be trusted. They will have a strike fund, and since APWA will only have to worry about providing strike funds for UPS employees, they plan on increasing the strike pay well beyond the $100 dollars a week that the Teamsters think you can live off of.

I think its obvious here that to provide Teamsters with any information on the performance or membership of the APWA would be strategically unwise. And IBT has made it a point to focus its use of intimidation in areas where support for APWA is strong, so to distribute such information would only benefit the Teamsters. But if you would like to make an issue out of this, feel free to do so. Its the only reasonable arguement you've made in this post.

Forced socialism has been the standard in unionism for as long as can one remember. By making participation in the union an elective choice, the success of the union relies on the participation of the people it represents. The voice of each individual member regains its true strength which is diminished by the forced socialism of the IBT.

4. Eason used to profess be a Christian type gentleman and respected that. I wish i had this kind of insight into the hearts of men. But go ahead and spread your web of lies. It becomes obvious that as you fail to make good arguements on the true issues that affect the people at UPS, that you are forced to attack the character of two good men with over 50 years combined at brown.

I don't get the grievance, A customer calls up UPS Freight (formerly Overnite) and pays them to pickup and delv a pkg. UPS Freight does this and you will grieve? Although it is under the UPS umbrella, it is treated as a seperate company currently. We don't intermix pkgs. What article in the contract says anything about this. It's not subcontracting since the customer paid for uPS freight to do this. UPS wasn't the one who decided how it will be delivered.

You can file all the greivances you want just remember, UPS is making the decisions over here now, and it has nothing to do with the employees. We don't know your business from our business.

We have enough work with heavy freight than to be "stealing" your business. My company that UPS bought out allways had enough work, so much that they could not hire enough at times.

If this story is true, (I have my doubts) and you see this employee again, don't blame him for the decisions UPS Freight under the control of UPS is making.

No idea to the character of the leadership of APWA or the Teamsters the bottom line is this upstart union's only issue is the pension and how we can get a bigger piece of the pie. The question should be asked, what would happen to these teamsters' pension and health and welfare plans if UPS was not contributing. Presuming they would default and go into the PGCB federal insurance program, which pays 1,000 per month for multi-employee plans. So how in the world if they are successful will they be able to collect the funds to pay for any decent pension benefit, particularly for the members who wll be retiring in the next five years. Look at your seniority lists and figure out if what would happen if the pension benefit was set for a good 25 and out any age, in my building we would lose half the package car drivers and three quarters of the feeder department. Face it, the last thing any pension or health and welfare trustee wants is more drain on the funds without the means of paying for these new retirees. Are you expecting UPS to shell out the extra 6,000 per month to cover your pie in the sky benefit of 7,000, boy are you guys in for a rude awakening:cool:
