Big Brown Button

The only place I have heard of a Big Brown button is on this site.
Heck, all the uniforms I ordered came up missing, after being left on the counter in the center.
I never got a piece of the plane, either.
I feel like Rodney Dangerfield.
Hey Sat.....If the horse wins I'll sell it to you for $500. If the horse loses I'll sell it to you for the price of a stamp!!!!! Hey if the horse falls and has to put down on the track I think UPS should cut him up in 400,000 pieces make a nice little plaque and give each of us a piece of him!!!!!!

It was absolutely the stupidest thing I've seen UPS do in quite sometime.

Hand them out to shippers the first day, then receive ours the following day.

Then we are instructed that we ARE NOT to wear them on our uniform. Yeah.....

Let's give these stupid buttons out to our shippers and then tell them that UPS will not even let us wear this same UPS button on our uniform for one lousy day, would have made sense for us to on the day we were actually supposed to give them out.

My god UPS.....do you think we would wear this button with "pride" on our day off? Lol! It was too cheesy even for corporate.

Huge disappointment, but if the jockey thought something was wrong, then I'm glad he took care of the horse first.

Sure wish I'd put a million on the winner.....I'd have $38 million bucks right now !!!

Yes it is a waste of money, time and proof that our company is being run by morons. I see no difference in this "Big Brown" crap and the racing car sponsorship. All are wasting company dollars in the name of "advertising" when is nothing more than rich, powerful people feeding their own egos on corporate expense. The stockholders don't gripe about ti too much because they have been fed the lines of how much good advertising does. I'm sure there is no way to find out the whole truth but I really doubt that we gained a significant amount if new customers or a substantial increase in volume for all the millions we have spent on this type of "Advertising". Does anyone believe that someone that is in the need for shipping large numbers of packages was setting at home one Saturday afternoon watching nascar saw Dale Jarret making left hand turns and thought "hmmmm, looks like there is a package carrier name UPS, think I'll start shipping with them."?
Nascar...Big Brown...foolishness at it's best.

they need to keep up with fedex and all of their sponserships....racing, golf, tennis, they really do quite a bit more than ups, I agree with you on the waste of money.

Sorry to change the subject, but my wife brought home a UPS boomerang the other day. She controls shipping for an internet company and a sales rep gave it to her.
The program is to advertise UPS Returns Worldwide.
I could not believe the waste of money by UPS.
It is very well made, stenciled and painted with the logo.
Whoever thought of this gimmick should have it thrown at them.
It does fly nice.

When I first saw the title for this thread I had something else in mind than an actual button. Should have been titled "Big Brown Eye" as in that is where their Big Brown Button should go.

I had a customer try to corner me up today about the race. He said one of the persons there lost over $7k on Big Brown. I had to fight my way out with a an old fire extinguisher!

I didn't bet on the race at all. When I heard the trainer guarantee a winner, I knew it was over.

The only time I ever went to the track, I sought out the big odds....so if I had bet on Belmont I would've found that 38 to 1 shot really attractive.

Well it seems that Big Brown turned out to be a Big Black eye to the marketing dept:oops:
Just an FYI..... A LOT OF PEOPLE DID NOT KNOW THIS....

For the Belmont Stakes, Big Brown wore a second set of stainless steel sutures on the inside of his hoof. Hoof specialist Ian McKinlay changed the sutures a week before the race and attached an acrylic and fiberglass adhesive patch to the hoof. Although he missed three days of training prior to the race, his gait and attitude seemed unaffected. After the crack was patched, Brown was exercised by rider Michelle Nevin. Ian McKinlay said, prior to the Belmont, that Big Brown "does not need a patch on the quarter crack on his left front hoof until the morning of the Belmont Stakes. So Dutrow will give Big Brown his final hard workout Tuesday to breeze 5 furlongs without it and gallop him into the race confident the colt’s tender hoof is healed."
Big Brown went off as the 3-10 favorite in the Belmont, but Da' Tara won the race while he finished in 9th, becoming the first Triple Crown hopeful to finish in last place at Belmont. Jockey Kent Desormeaux eased the horse in the home stretch after sensing something was amiss, saying immediately after the race, "I had no horse." His failure to win has led many people to believe that his loss is one of the biggest flops in horse racing history.

Did everyone get their Big Brown Button today ?:funny:

You know, it's funny....

I was walking out of the building Friday night (ok, Sat morning), and I walked past a table with an open bag of these buttons on it. I started to pick one up, but stopped.

No one had offered me one, and I thought I would be accused of pilfering. Sad, but something you have to be careful of at UPS.....

It appears Jockey Kent D. had some compassion and love for BB.
It appears the people who bet on BB didn't.
Once again, human greed almost killed a beautiful creature. Jockey Kent D stopped that process. The horse that was put down at the kentucky derby wasn't so lucky.
I hope you all slowly suffocate on your greed.

go ahead and negative rep me....I don't care.

trick,
I agree with you....I watched the race and as I was watching I saw the moment when the jockey pulled back. Thinking that was odd... we watched it again... then someone said... "BB was injured going into this race" and I thought... "they raced him anyway??" what for the money??

If he won injured...they would have collected their money and recognition and you would have read about him being put down later...:dissapointed:
