I can't see UPS letting kids in on a normal work day because of liability and safety issues. If the family wants to look around they can do it during an open house when operations aren't running.

I wouldn't want my kids to witness all the swearing and temper tantrums that go on -----and that's just on managements side.

My youngest daughter was going to be my helper one year, but she got a better gig at the college she was attending. I was a stay at home dad and it would have been cool to do that one last thing before she moved away from home.

THIS is what they used to do here. Have a "family" day on a Saturday. Never did it myself, and I don't think they do it anymore.

you are suppose to like your children----make them work as a helper?--- that's cruel and unusual punishment

Apparently your kids didn't argue with you over every little thing from the time they were about 14 until maybe 24. No way would I have been able to work UPS peak with either of my kids during that age.

It's called teaching them the value of hard work.

My kids were/are extremely hard workers------just not for me. My daughter put herself through college and paid off her own student loans. Have you got your kid's loans paid off yet? You have posted that you are paying them. My son was one of the hardest workers I ever knew until he passed away. He was self sufficient from the time he graduated high school only moving back in with us for about a year while he was building his dream house ---on his own with help from me and a few friends. He always worked a job--some times 2 or 3 at a time.

Never said I was paying their loans.

What I said is that I would like to pay off my son's loans and give my daughter the same amount to help with the down payment for their new home when I sell my condo as her loans are already paid off (by her).

This just started at my hub. KidPost. Theyre working the kinks out currently, but parents pay for UPS daycare and have their children ride in the back of package cars all day. Not quite sure how that will unfold in the summer.

Why not---kids love 140 degree heat.

I couldn't imagine bringing my kid to work, and then having mgmt pretend it's real cute knowing inside how slimy they are. Would give me the creeps.

Several drivers were told they are not allowed. Squashed by corporate HR. This happen anywhere else? Kids are upset, they idolize their parents.

Bring your kid to work day happened in the center I worked in. Driver stopped by the house on the way to a big air hub so his daughter could put on her browns then hop on the Pkg Car to share his work day with him or as he said, so she could see what daddy do! Made it to the hub, they even took a break in the break room. YEE HA fun Daddy! Drops her off on the way back and makes good time getting the air to the center. See it can happen!

OH, you want the rest of the story do you? Air hub the next day phones the center manager to ask if they sent two drivers to his hub last night? Why NO! Why do you ask? Driver comes back in and they ask Did you have someone with you in the truck last night? Beans get spilled all over the place. He gets FIRED on the spot!
