I occasionally took the pedal off the floor of the vehicle to slow down for speed bumps. I guess I'm fortunate to be retired now that the technology is getting more advanced.

Just in case....

I have the best supervisors the company could offer. They do everything far better than I could ever expect someone in their position to do. Keep up the good work fellas :thumbup1:

I just searched for that post Susie made that showed the IP address of someone posting from UPS...... but couldn't find it. I did find a post where Dannyboy mentioned it.

Anyone else good at searching? Anyone else remember it?

Anyone think I was drinking too much that night?

I remember it well. In fact, I think I PM'ed Cheryl and asked her what it was all about and if posters could be traced. Cheryl reassured me that posters could not be traced.
The result of Susie's post appeared to be a valid presentation only a computer geek could love. It had lots of cryptic looking gibberish from which she apparently deciphered a location, an IP address and, I think, perhaps a city and state.
So....either that was a valid trace or Susie has quite the creative imagination.
At this point I really don't care if they trace me cuz I'll say the same thing to their face as I'll say on this board.

The IP address is just where the outgoinging message server is located. We are all safe, the Company can't figure out the true identity of a poster unless they use their real name. I am officially coming out of the closet, for some reason Cheryl asked me to be a Moderator. I can't figure out your true identity, and UPS can't either. Don't worry about it.:thumbup1:

Why all the worry? Speaking one's mind is not a crime. We have no trade secrets and most of us are just hourly grunts. If anyone is listening I hope they will realize that we have some problems that are chronic and taking the steps to fix them would help the whole operation. We are here to make money. If UPS doesn't do well we don't either. We are pushed to turn in sales leads for new volume, but find that many times we can't give good service to the customers we currently have. PAS/EDD is a good system, but only if fine tuned. After 2 years here you would think SOMEONE would realize that and spend the time to fix it. That's my first wish. My second wish would be to let the "center team" have more control over the daily operations. It would seem we are being run by the Gods that live hundreds of miles away instead of the management here that actually has a clue as to what we are facing on a daily basis. If you put someone in managemrnt, let them manage....

A supe did not say this, it was brought up at a Union meeting about the new diad system...

One center is already using the diagnostics notification and reduced the out of service Package Cars. So it seems that part works...

Another feature disables the diad while the package car is in motion to keep drivers with "both hands on the wheel..."

Lakeland, I don't know who is dumber. Me or you? You for thinking the DIAD has any connection to the package car. It doesn't even get its power source from the truck. Or me for thinking for a second that you would actually believe DIAD4 can run diagnostics on a package car???????????

I agree, and after all I dont think many of us say things here, that we dont say at work. I think most of us are just perplexed that we cant get things fixed when they truly need fixed. And we like to know others are experiencing the same, or not.
At first I was afraid to say things, then I thought, its all true, I would like some input, and here I am.

An IP address can be used to trace you. In the example given about susie's skills above, she traced an IP address to UPS in NJ. An administrator there could easily find out who had that address at that particular time.

There are many programs available that can trace an IP address to a very specific geographical location.

Your ISP is required to keep records of who has what IP address, how do you think they prove child pornography cases, or RIAA lawsuits?

I have no doubt that anyone's IP address could be used for nefarious purposes.

It was bad enough that Cheryl and tonyexpress had that information, but their identity is known. It is disconcerting to know that she has given that authority to strangers, if in fact admin privileges allow that.

Tooner, you just said in a lot less words what I was trying to say in my post in the thread "what preloaders like" Thanks!

Why worry about the IP address?

work location
shift
position
hobbies
union of membership
specific events

slothrop,

Were you trying to be sarcastic when you referred to "susie's skills"? I had to laugh when I read that. Both you and susie exhibit the same pattern of unethical, immoral and disruptive behavior towards the same few people in our community. Then when you were warning of ip's being used for nefarious purposes and in the next sentence refer to me having access to our community's ip addresses... How brilliantly ironic...

Yes, our moderators can look up your ip addresses. I've had access to them for 7 years. In fact any website that you visit automatically logs your ip, that's how the internet works. It's like caller id without any personal info. That's how we get all those cool statistics about what the areas of the world use a website and which times of the day are busiest. If you are using anything on the internet for illegal, unethical or immoral activities then you should be worried and immediately stop using the internet... and then call your mother.

How could anyone with good intentions seriously refer to susie's history of cyberstalking and other unethical behavior as "susie's skills"?

Perhaps slothrop could give us a more detailed explanation of how one extracts the ip address from a web site like brown cafe?

How about I wouldnt know an IP address if I fell over it, or what its for, or how to use it in a nefarious way, or would want to know. Maybe its also how some high tech geek tracks terroristic activities on the internet. And if it helps catch child porn traders, or other demoralizing and illegal activities, thats a good thing. They would get very bored with mine, lets see...ebay, brown cafe, ODNR, nascar, jp cycles, msc direct. Why worry? paranoia never hurt anyone but unless you have something to worry about, why would you care?
