TDU expects a quick tenative agreement( NO hating! I dont support TDU)
UPS Contract Update | Teamsters for a Democratic Union

an excerpt: The company is expected to make a push for a quick tentative agreement over the next two weeks after taking its demand that members pay for our healthcare off the table. Members need to be prepared to review the details of any tentative deal carefully. With UPS making record profits and production harassment at an all-time high, this is no time to settle short.

THIS IS UNTRUE. Its the same typical NONSENSICAL, POT STIRRING crap from TDU.

The company has NOT pulled its offer from the table. The Teamsters have set a March 31st deadline for the company to do so and as of today ( sunday) that has NOT BEEN DONE.

What was posted on the LINK is not TRUELY accurate, and is simply someones "surmizing" of the call. While its close, its not correct on many issues.

THERE IS NO AGREEMENT TO WITHDRAWAL the UPS proposals.

Peace

Go take a look at google or apple or Microsoft benefits. It's just retarded. They actually treat their employees right.

Dude, Those three companies have more in cash laying around than UPS is even worth.
Compare apples to apples man.
Apple has $167Billion in cash just laying around. We are worth roughly $80Billion. Microsoft has about $80billion in cash laying around.
They all have more in revenue each year than we are even worth.

Annoy a liberal today. Hit them with facts.
My bad. I underlined the wrong part.

Join in the fun. TDU is a "target" rich environment. Pretty easy.

-Bug-

If we come to a strike, you are saying that UPS will not be prepared? I mean they've had 4plus years and another 4plus months to prepare. To say it is fact that they won't be prepared is not too bright.

I've hated them for decades. Nothing new. I'm not coming down on their supporters. It's not my fault that TDU targets the weak. They focus their attention on the ill informed. Mask facts with a shroud of lies. I despise their organizations rhetoric and practices. Socialist, Marxists, Communist, Stalinism, they are cut from the same cloth. Do your research folks.
They bash hall? All of a sudden hall is an :censored2:? TDU people forget that he was the chief negotiator in 97 not Carey (the godsend). TDU people forget that last contract he negotiated a record 9 dollars and hour bump in wages, health and pension. My favorite thing about Carey? After he was elected, he turned his back on TDU. Love it! It's 3:17pm and TDU still sucks!!

You seem to have a bug up your ***** about tdu and ron carey. Get over it!! TDU has a role to play in this. They always do. I prefer to be briefed by any organization willing to expose what is hidden from us. You dont like their politics. Good for you, but remember it was socialists and communists and anarchists who started the labor movement. TDU' s aim isnt to divide us. it is to inform us and mobilize us. As for ron carey, hall couldnt shine ron's shoes. We have been a lesser union without carey. Corporate america and especially UPS won when they WRONGLY took down ron carey!! And by the way, he never turned his back on TDU. Their relationship continued til his death. It's 11:53 pm and im proud of what ron carey did for us in 1997 and im embarassed out our union "leadership" ever since!!

IMHO.... I respected the Carey/Hall slate of 1997 although I did feel that many of us were not given the "all" the information we needed to make individual informed decisions. Hoffa will always live in his father's shadow and is fortunate to have hall experience in negotiating. That said, there is not one Teamster official's job that I envy. TDU has done serious harm to their reputation in my eyes by posting private Union documents.

I'm assuming it will be a good idea to get all necessary doctor visits, medical work, dental visits, and eye exams completed by July 31? Or would our current coverage be good through the end of the year? Either way, we may not have to pay for our healthcare in the upcoming contract, but it doesn't look good for us to maintain the outstanding coverage we currently have. I hope I am wrong on that.

AMEN ! We have settled short in the past. This go around we need a contract that is Fair to all parties, not just UPS. We need language in the contract that is not gray when it comes to harassment, production, or any other aspect of our job performance. If we dont get good language about the new technology that the company is using ( in some cases to fire drivers ) then they ( mgmt ) will be running wild firing or writing drivers up by simply doing a virtual ride, not fully understanding the obstacles we face daily.

I didn't mind Carey. But remember in 97, we didn't get to vote on our contract. Some forget that we weren't given that voice while we were on the picket line. In 97 UPS was a completely different company than the current publicly traded company it is now. Your being close minded. hall negotiated the 97 contract. Carey just took credit as "the boss" usually does. You said he never turned his back on TDU? Didn't Carey removed nearly every TDU member from his executive board and just replaced them with mobsters like Boston's George Cashman? Pete Camarata, who confounded TDU said in a letter to TDU's steering committee,"Carey's performance on limiting corruption...as far as I know the score is ZERO!". In local 299 Carey appointed a trustee from the group BLAST. If you don't know BLAST, they are the Brotherhood of Loyal Americans and Strong Teamsters. They were used to beat up TDUers at their conference. Once again, I liked Carey. But stop thinking your shining prince was more clean all others. Like I said, he used TDU for votes and then the "relationship" you speak of was just a close watch on TDU.

UPS began preparing to go public in the mid-1990s....

UPS always said that the ability to make decisions for the long term was a key reason it did not want to go public. The company lost hundreds of millions of dollars establishing a business in Europe before that operation finally became profitable last year. But company officials said at the time the IPO was announced they were confident there would not be a change in that culture.

UPS soars above record IPO - Nov. 10, 1999

UPS also needed to raise funds for that $1 Billion dollar fine from the IRS

But they didn't until 2 years later. What's your point?

Ground work for post-public decision making is prepared in advanced. When I was younger, I worked for a local, family-owned midsize grocery chain that was known for wide aisles & premium service. When the owned passed on, his kids decided to cash in on an IPO ... recognizing that Wall Street's golden metric was sales per square foot, the aisles shrunk (additional space was sub-leased) and the baggers/carry out service eliminated well in advance of the IPO.

My point is that I doubt it's accurate to suggest UPS "was a completely different company than the current publicly traded company it is now," given that much of the ground work for today was laid out the. Of course, things became more extreme as FedEx Ground grew & the econ took a dump.
