I only made 113k from UPS last year, maxed out the 18k Roth, this is how I get rewarded for saving, the second year in a row.
It happened to me almost every year for the last decade (2004 -2013) of employment.View attachment 128378

It is pretty sad how little some guys save.It happened to me almost every year for the last decade (2004 -2013) of employment.
Savers get penalized by "saving sloths".
Not your problem if they want to blow it on drugs, alcohol, and ex wives....it's a free country,It is pretty sad how little some guys save.

Sorry brother. That sucks.
Who wants to be here longer than they have to?Not your problem if they want to blow it on drugs, alcohol, and ex wives....it's a free country,
Were you maxing out your IRA's to compensate? Deciding between adding to mine or just dropping it in AmeritradeIt happened to me almost every year for the last decade (2004 -2013) of employment.

Maybe he can open a ROTH IRA in his wife's name and put the money there.Completely unavoidable.
Nope, between UPS and my investments, my realized income last year was 128k. I made almost 12k less this year than last, just to ease up and try to avoid this crap. I'm the only one I know of that is having this problem.Jack does your wife work?
Do you have a Roth IRA for your wife?Nope, between UPS and my investments, my realized income last year was 128k. I made almost 12k less this year than last, just to ease up and try to avoid this crap. I'm the only one I know of that is having this problem.
Thinking about what to do at this point. I have some good core funds that I might add to in a Roth IRA. I'd be right at the limit for 2017 if I dropped it in there.Maybe he can open a ROTH IRA in his wife's name and put the money there.
Nope, was thinking of opening one for her.Do you have a Roth IRA for your wife?
You can have a Roth for the both of you outside of your 401k and not run into this problem again next year.Thinking about what to do at this point. I have some good core funds that I might add to in a Roth IRA. I'd be right at the limit for 2017 if I dropped it in there.
Unless I hit lower income limits or others contribute. New hires being auto placed into the 401k might help with this. Not sure if the limits are dollar based or employee % based.Completely unavoidable.
Yeah, I have one for myself but didn't want to start another for the Mrs, just another account to manage. You can have a Roth for the both of you outside of your 401k and not run into this problem again next year.
Congratulations on saving so hard.
It's smart future tax planning to have one in her name also.Yeah, I have one for myself but didn't want to start another for the Mrs, just another account to manage.
yes ... around $6k per year at that time. Were you maxing out your IRA's to compensate? Deciding between adding to mine or just dropping it in Ameritrade
