I give up---what's a RPCD driver? And in 20 or more years they will be saying that about the last RPCD driver.
Loading and unloading packages isn't worth 20 bucks an hour.To match pace with the times, $21 ought to be the starting wage for part time. That amount of money might also draw a slightly higher caliber applicant. Match that up with the current top rate driver pay and you would more closely match the pay difference that existed in the 80's and 90's.
Regular Package Car Delivery driver I guess. Look up Art 22.4 in the new contract.I give up---what's a RPCD driver?
When I started the pay difference between a top rate delivery driver and a preloader was about $.50/hr. After 90 days.To match pace with the times, $21 ought to be the starting wage for part time. The last Contract book I had was in 2001.Regular Package Car Delivery driver I guess. Look up Art 22.4 in the new contract.
Look on line. The last Contract book I had was in 2001.
When I started they didn't have pre-loaders. After they got away from a driver sort things went to hell quick. When I started the pay difference between a top rate delivery driver and a preloader was about $.50/hr. After 90 days.
I'll take your word for it.Look on line.
If that were the case today, no one would drive. When I started the pay difference between a top rate delivery driver and a preloader was about $.50/hr. After 90 days.
Back when the pay scale was real close to being even for everyone a drivers position was still what everyone wanted. Believe it or no at one time if you were a UPS driver you had bragging rights. If that were the case today, no one would drive.
Now all the new drivers are young and dumb or can't get a job anywhere else.If that were the case today, no one would drive.
UPS drivers did not make anymore then other Union jobs or non Union jobs back in the day. The only way they made more was all the OT but combined with the working conditions a lot of PT never wanted to drive. The ones that did want to drive did not have any other skills.Back when the pay scale was real close to being even for everyone a drivers position was still what everyone wanted. I worked 3 part time jobs till I went full time. Going full time at ups is now easier thanPart time poverty.
