The sheriff is investigating the Fed Ex deal.....

So, if you quit and leave your pkg car hundreds of miles away or whatever....while employed.....is a crime?

If the pkgs are dumped and recovered....assuming damages or no......

Lock the keys in the back and walk away? Say, not telling anyone?

What say you?

We've had half a dozen guys quit by locking the package car in a back lot in some rural place and having a relative pick them up. Then, waiting for management to find out.

To my knowledge, none have had legal problems.

There is a DOT fine for not securing cargo, or a delivery truck. Plenty of room for charges...
Theft,
Wanton destruction of others property,
Littering,
Hazmat violations,
Trespassing,
Illegal dumping,
More...

Sounds like theft to me. Not your property to abandon.

He didn't steal the pkgs.

The load was secured with the box truck.

Who said he destroyed anything?

Hazmat? Maybe. But if intact....no spill...so what?

What if on public property.

Got me on dumping though. Littering.

So, If he would have just abandoned the vehicle....in say a parking lot....what say you?

Once you dump merchandise, you are stealing.
