First PMI last night!

Deplorable.
I have a brand new 2019 Ford P1000. It got its first PMI last night and I got it back this morning and I just had to laugh.

12,300 miles on the odometer and it came back this morning with six brand new tires on it.

I pre-trip the vehicle every morning religiously. There wasn't a damn thing wrong with the old tires. The tread was good, wear was even, no cuts, no cupping, no bulges, etc.

Can someone please explain to me why the company would (presumably) spend upwards of $1500 to needlessly replace something like that?

For a company that routinely cries poverty, this sure is puzzling.

My guess is they have to spend this quarterly money and new tires for your truck was just part of that expenditure.

If they don't spend all of this quarters allotment they won't get the same allotment for this quarter next year.

Could be a factory recall on the OEM tires.

It's because they all love you & care about you very much. Money is not an issue when it comes to the employees safety & well-being.

Bring in a basket of fresh fruit for your center manager team & mechanic.

6 new ones would amount to $1080 @ 180 each, plus the labor to put them on. 600 for recaps

Only reason I could think of for the 4 rears was to replace the factory tires with the aggressive thread snow tires we use up here in the Northeast, I swapped all four tires on the in service once for that reason. As for the fronts Who knows? Maybe they were half way and the mechanic figured to replace them since it will be awhile until he sees it again.

Ford supplies UPS trucks now? Since when? My guess is if the mechanic swapped out newer tires for new ones I would check his personal vehicles and see if anything he owns has the same tire size on it. :-) Its an old mechanics trick.
