Big difference between exaggeration and promotion and the facts. I agree, the story was EMBELLISHED by the GUN Groups who posted the story but that is the case in every case.

Peace.

You dont like guns, and that isnt going to change. Thats OK, everybody has a right to their own opinions.

Are you content to just dislike them, or do you think they should be banned? What is your opinion of the true meaning of the 2nd amendment?

Due to my own personal experiences, I have many of the same feelings about alcohol that you have about guns. And far more people die from alcohol-related causes than die from guns. I could spend the entire day qouting horrible news stories about death and dismemberment and abuse and cruelty that directly result from the abuse of alcohol, and use those stories to justify banning alcohol entirely.

But...I dont. As harmful as alcohol is, I believe that adults should be free to choose for themselves whether or not to use it. The fact that I have a problem with alcohol doesnt mean that everybody else does. My personal experiences with and opinions about alcohol do not give me the right to deny others the right to make decisions for themseves about whether or not to drink. In other words...I am tolerant of the rights of others even when I disagree with them.

Are you tolerant? Or do you think that only you should decide who should and should not own guns?

It's good that TOS lives on a planet far far away......................or is that a gated community somewhere in suburbia.

The really unfortunate part is that I tend to agree with TOS on a number of other issues, and I regard TOS as being pretty intelligent. But when it comes to the subject of guns, he/she (I dont know what gender TOS is) simply has a blind spot where he/she is unable to think clearly or logically and instead becomes a bigot who reacts based upon emotion, fear and prejudice.

In all seriousness, I wish I had the opportunity to take TOS to the gun club that I belong to, and give him/her an opportunity to handle and shoot guns in a safe and responsible manner. I might just change his/her mind about them. It is human nature to fear the unknown, and to be predjudiced against things or people that frighten us. Knowledge is power, ignorance is weakness.

SOBER,

the issue isnt persons who go to gun clubs to shoot for sport. The Issue is that in America, GUNS are used to solve problems. GUNS have made it easy for americans to commit crimes of all types. If a wife cheats on her husband, that husband takes his GUN and shoots her. If hes depressed enough, he kills the children, if hes desperate, he takes a few shots at the cops before shooting himself.

In every action of that description, it was the access to a GUN that complicated the situation. If he had used a knife to kill his wife, most likely, he wouldnt use it on his children, nor would he attempt to take on the police with that knife, nor would he stab himself.

The likelyhood of deaths diminish when you remove the GUN from the equation.

The GUN increases the equation and more innocent persons get killed. Simple concept.

The problem is you are focusing on just guns and Sober is right, your statements are bigoted and self righteous. You won't acknowledged that it is not THE GUN it is THE PERSON. And no amount of legislation is going to stop people from killing people. You and Klein both are so narrow minded in your ideologies that it is hilarious. If guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns. I would be one of those but that doesn't make me a criminal. And if the criminals can't get guns they will get something else. IED's. That's all they are, just one form of IED. Maybe IED isn't exactly the right term. How about IDD (Improvised Destructive Devise). There is nothing about this that is a simple concept. You are a prime example of this. If it were simple then you would get that it is not the gun that is acting of its one volition. The likelihood (correctly spelled) of deaths diminishing is a fallacy. The only thing that would change (maybe) is the weapon of choice.

Yeah Dilli, I could imagine the Fort Hood mass shooting being the Fort Hood mass stabbings.
A military doctor could easily overwelm trained US soldiers with a knife.

Same as the AZ Tuscon shooting.
Had he had a knife, it would have been even worse, right ?

Don't forget that the shooter was a muslim.............religion of peace, remember? He could've used a grenade.....it's a military post. Military places are armed in case you didn't know.

I know your navy's rowboat has oars to hit people with. Lets you sleep safely at night.

TOS,

What would you do to change things?

There are something like 200 million guns in the United States. They arent going to vanish. You cant "uninvent" them. And the same Constitution that protects your freedom of speech and your freedom of expression and your freedom of worship and your freedem to petition your government for a redress of grievances also gurantees my right to keep and bear arms. So like it or not, guns are a fact of life and the sooner you accept that reality and start looking for solutions, the better off we all will be.

You say "the issue isnt people who go to gun clubs to shoot for sport" yet in other posts you claim that gun owners care nothing for human life and you make assertions about the "typical mind set" of ALL gun owners. What other sterotypes do you believe in? Do you believe that ALL gay men are effeminate hair dressers? Do you believe that ALL Jewish people are cheap? Do you believe that ALL black people like watermelon? Or are gun owners like myself the only targets of your bigotry?

I resent being sterotyped in such a manner. I resent being painted with your broad brush. I resent the fact that, in your arrogance, you would presume to know what is in my heart based solely on the fact that I choose to own guns. To buy into such a stereotypes is the very definition of ignorance.
