Is 2020 the first year of the new decade, or the last year of the previous decade?

    Lot’s of opinions about this.

At one point, the founding of Rome was called the beginning of the calendar, but then a clever monk said Jesus’s birth should be the start.

That took hold, but they started the new calendar at year one.

Soooo, is 2020 the first year or the last year?

    Happy New Year!

    Punched out at 19:45, wtf.

Anyway, I was always curious about this.

People come down hard on either side of this discussion, it’s like Coke v Pepsi.

But there’s got to be an answer, right?

I consider it to be the first year of the twenties
This comes up every ten years or so.
I think at one time in my life I cared.
    Definitely not the case now.
Is that gods or bad or mei ...

Of course it’s the first year of the twenties, but that’s not my question.

    I’m not sure there’s a proper answer.

Did we start with Year 0, or Year 1?

You should be able to answer your own question.

2000 wasn't the last year of the 1900s and 1900 wasn't the last year of the 1800s. 2020 isn't the last year of the 2010s.

I think he's using common core math.

You need to check your white privilege at the door and be more inclusive of varying mathematical perspectives.

    How dare you.
