How come we never had a big military victory parade at the close of the Vietnam War? Oh. that's right...We LOST... You know the war we flat out lost and the one General Bone Spur and his father used every trick , every side step, every advantage his father's wealth could acquire so that Dear Leader/General Bone Spur could AVOID military service? Yeah....that one. How come we never did anything like this for them? Simple. The memory of billions spent , 58,000 American lives sacrificed for nothing along tens of thousands more scarred and wounded and the realization that America can in fact LOSE a war is what the nation has spent the past half century trying to sweep into history's dusty real closet.....Yeah....that war.

My county is so strapped for cash that it had to eliminate the VA representative position and replace it with a part time gig and ask volunteer veterans to come in and help with benefit applications.The VA hospital over in the next county is asking for wage and benefit concessions for it's employees.

That "coming home" was an embarrassment....like slavery, it's part of our history. Our history is not all pretty.I had high school friends who died in VietNam. They probably didn't even know why they were there. They were socs, not greasers.
