On June 4th, 1939 the MS St. Louis, a ship carrying 963 Jewish refugees is denied entry into the US, to later be killed in Nazi camps.

The Los Angeles Times said locals are worried by the crackdown on immigration. A friend posted this note on the White House website. "I'm terrified that Trump is going to deport my Latina mother-in-law who lives at 1801 3rd Street Los Angeles 90023 blue house on the corner, she gets home at six." ~Argus Hamilton~

Popular restaurant gets massive fine for verifying foreign workers

Panda Express 'too careful' in quest to hire only legal residents
The U.S. Department of Justice announced Wednesday it reached a settlement agreement with Panda Restaurant Group Inc., a chain of more than 1,800 Chinese-cuisine restaurants the DOJ accuses of discriminating against non-U.S. citizens in its hiring practices.

The deal resolves the department’s investigation into whether Panda Express discriminated against non-U.S. citizens in violation of the Immigration and Nationality Act, or INA, when verifying employees’ permission to work, according to a DOJ press release.

According to the DOJ investigation, Panda Express “unnecessarily required lawful permanent resident workers to re-establish their work authorization” when their green cards expired, “while not making similar requests to U.S. citizen workers when their documents expired.”

It was not clear from the press release what “documents” a U.S. citizen would have that could expire and need to be re-verified. WND called and emailed the DOJ press office Wednesday and did not get a return call.

The employer instructions on the I9 employment verification form state that a green card can appear expired on its face and still be a valid document. If you run the potential hire through e-verify it will tell you if they are still eligible to work. Forcing people to get more documents is an unnecessary burden.

Iranian Military Agent Caught Trying to Enter U.S.

Seyed Mohsen Dehnavi, who has been identified as a member of Iran's highly vetted volunteer Basij force, was turned away from entering the United States at Boston's Logan Airport.

Sources familiar with the situation said that Dehnavi is billing himself as a medical researcher and was to assume residency at a Boston-based hospital. He was detained earlier this week at Logan Airport along with his family and later sent back to Iran.

.......posing as a cancer researcher, according to multiple sources familiar with the situation who told the Washington Free Beacon that the Trump administration should begin investigating how the individual was granted a U.S. visa in the first place.

A Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) official familiar with the situation told the Free Beacon that Dehnavi was "deemed inadmissible to the U.S. based on information discovered during the CBP inspection."

Now he just has to go to Hawaii and pose as somebody's uncle.

Well the media had the story as being about a poor cancer research doctor being denied entry. All the usual suspects came out of the woodwork to lend their support, including former SOS Kerry.

"Here are the facts: Mr. Dehnavi is a high-ranking member of IRGC's Basij, has been involved in the IRGC's military research programs, has played a key role in oppressing dissidents, and Iran's Supreme Leader has given him his own keffiyeh as a gift," Saeed Ghasseminejad, a prominent Iranian dissident and regional expert at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies told the Free Beacon.

Other media outlets have independently identified Dehnavi as a top Basij member who was involved in efforts to suppress dissident and reformist voices in Iran.

Massachusetts police cannot hold people in jail on immigration detainers, the state’s Supreme Juridical Court has ruled.
The SJC thinks federal detainers are civil not criminal requests.

Well, we know who opposes immigration reform. The far left with their need for voters and the greedy corporations that exploit immigrants by paying them peanuts.

Reforming American Immigration for a Strong Economy Act (RAISE Act) A Bill to Raise Working Wages & Boost American Competitiveness

The RAISE Act Solution

The Reforming American Immigration for a Strong Economy Act (RAISE Act) would spur economic growth and help raise working Americans’ wages ending chain migration, giving priority to the most skilled immigrants from around the world, and reducing overall immigration by half. Specifically, the RAISE Act would:

Establish a Skills-Based Points System. The RAISE Act would replace the current permanent employment-visa framework with a skills-based points system, akin to the systems used by Canada and Australia. The system would prioritize those immigrants who are best positioned to succeed in the United States and expand the economy. Applicants earn points based on education, English-language ability, high-paying job offers, age, record of extraordinary achievement, and entrepreneurial initiative.

Prioritize Immediate Family Households. The RAISE Act keeps immigration preferences for the spouses and minor children of U.S. residents, encouraging the unification of nuclear families. It eliminates preferences for extended family and grown adult family members of U.S. residents. For U.S. citizens who need to bring elderly parents to the United States for care-taking purposes, the bill creates a renewable temporary visa for such parents.

Eliminate the Outdated Diversity Visa Lottery. The Diversity Lottery is plagued with fraud, advances no economic or humanitarian interest, and does not even promote diversity. It is an arbitrary way to distribute the precious privilege of U.S. citizenship, and the RAISE Act would eliminate it.

Place a Responsible Limit on Permanent Residency for Refugees. The RAISE Act would limit refugees offered permanent residency to 50,000 per year, in line with a 13-year average.

Sounds racist, terrible, and unfair.
