Inordinately Right
Islam is the most violent and radical religion in modern times.

It’s a terrible ideology, you will always be the aggressor against Islam, so always eligible for jihad.
There's two billion Muslims. If you think most of them feel that way you should probably stay indoors and stock up on tin foil and bullets.

Why not. Nothin' better to do Vanman.

Revelation is written using vivid symbols and figures that are intended to grab our imagination and paint a picture in our minds. Because of this language, we need to pay particular attention to numbers and periods of time. They often have symbolic meanings that must be deduced from the evidence. For example:

3 is the number of God.

12 is the number of God’s people.

10 is the number of completeness.

7 is the number of perfection.

8 is the number of renewal.

These numbers are often combined to create additional symbols. 144,000 for example is 12 times 12 times 10 to the 3rd power, and is used to denote ALL of God's people. Another combination gives us 666 -- what is 666?

We need to be careful with symbolic numbers, because numbers can be made to symbolize anything if one is willing to work hard enough. For example, let A = 100, B = 101, C = 102, etc. and note that 107 (H) + 108 (I) + 119 (T) + 111 (L) + 104 (E) + 117 (R) = 666--- (that took a while)
But if we apply a meaning to 666 that would have meant nothing to Revelation's first century audience,( a must in understanding the Revelation) then we can be almost certain that we have attached the wrong meaning to the symbol.

What then does 666 mean? Revelation 13:18 tells us that 666 is the number of the beast, a human number. What does that mean?
The number 7 means perfection and completeness. The number 6 depicts something that has fallen hopelessly short of perfection. Man was created on the sixth day and he fell from perfection. The number 3 is the number of divinity (the Godhead are three.)
Thus three sixes depict something that has fallen hopelessly short of divine perfection. Does that figure accurately portray the terrible beast described in Revelation 13? No doubt.
That beast represents the false perverted religious side of Rome. God is 777! Rome is 666!
If you did not worship the beast (the perverted idolatry and of coarse Caesar himself ) and refused, death or severe persecution was your reward.

So maybe it was foretelling the great evil to come, i.e. Hitler? I honestly don't know but do believe the writing was intended to convey meaning to Christian groups of that time without it being able to be interpreted if it fell into the wrong hands.

Ok you made the claim, can you back it up?
No, just reporting what I've read from numerous sources. It's expensive getting out in the field and surveying. But I have faith you'll tell me from your years of being the arbiter of truth what's really going on. So many have missed it, thank the good Lord you're here.

Hitler has nothing to do with Revelation. Nor any interpretation that has to do with modern day, modern leaders and beyond. Its not in there. The Lords coming is in the book, but he will not set foot on the earth again, much less in Jerusalem. This is pre millennialism. A doctrine that is false and has absolutely nothing to do with scripture.

The evil to come was the persecution and deaths of first century Christians.
The message from Patmos is that the King of Kings will be victorious over the greatest world power ever known.
No matter how bad it gets , stay faithful. Rome will fall, the spiritual kingdom ( the Church )will last forever.

A short answer to why the book of Revelation was written is that it was to provide comfort and encouragement to the people of God. The book was written to convince the church in the first century that God had not abandoned them.

Christianity is a "new testament", not the old, which was Jewish law. We learn from the Old Testament, but everything we need as Christians is found in the New Testament. It's a better way to live, and a radical departure from the the world as it was when founded. There is recounting of violence done against Christ and Christians in the New, but tell me where in the New Testament are we commanded to commit violence? To wage war on unbelievers? When Peter cut off that soldier's ear Jesus healed the soldier and told Peter if he lived by the sword he would die by it too. The battles we fight as Christians are spiritual battles, not physical.
That’s because of the huge Roman and Greek influence on the writings of Paul which form the basis of the Catholic Church.
If there was a Jesus, there is no way he would have approved of the Pauline Christianity that developed in the Catholic Church and Jesus would be even more abhorred at the Protestant churches.

The Catholic Church formed when, 3rd Century? 4th? New Testament Christianity flourished after Paul was dead for hundreds of years. Paul warned of wolves in sheep's clothing who's God was their belly. Ambitious men saw the potential of controlling the masses and getting rich doing it. That wasn't Paul's fault. If Paul was inspired by God in his teachings then you can't just discount that portion of the New Testament. The Church grew exponentially because of Paul. And really, Protestantism arose because of abuses in the Catholic Church. To say wanting to worship God as they did in the Bible is worse than the Catholic Church is a bit over the top. "For man looketh upon the outward appearance, but God looks upon the heart."(That might be off a few letters). God knows what's in our hearts. We divide ourselves. Jesus and the Apostles didn't.

Oh I know, but since you spelled out his name thought I'd see where that takes us. :)
