The Catholic Church formed when, 3rd Century? 4th? New Testament Christianity flourished after Paul was dead for hundreds of years. Paul warned of wolves in sheep's clothing who's God was their belly. Ambitious men saw the potential of controlling the masses and getting rich doing it. That wasn't Paul's fault. If Paul was inspired by God in his teachings then you can't just discount that portion of the New Testament. The Church grew exponentially because of Paul. And really, Protestantism arose because of abuses in the Catholic Church. To say wanting to worship God as they did in the Bible is worse than the Catholic Church is a bit over the top. "For man looketh upon the outward appearance, but God looks upon the heart."(That might be off a few letters). God knows what's in our hearts. We divide ourselves. Jesus and the Apostles didn't.

If you're going to try to convince us that a Jew like Paul, raised on the Torah, was ok with homosexuality you're going to have to come up with more than conspiracy theories by gay activists. Patriarchal society too, or have you not noticed the Twelve Apostles were all men? Jesus didn't elevate women up to equal status within the Church, but he did recognize their importance.

Jesus never knew about a Church ... he was a Jew and he knew about synagogues and temples.
Therefore, Jesus didn't do diddly about elevating any sex or group within the Church.

If you knew 1/10th of what you claim that you have studied, you would know that the obvious additions to Paul's writings in regard to denouncing homosexuality and women's status in the church was postulated by the collection of biblical scholars who called the Jesus Seminar in 1985, and a lot of the work had been done in the 1950s, well before the advent of gay churches. You may have heard of John Dominic Crossan, noted member of the Jesus Seminar, and I have read three of his 50 or so books.

They called them synagogues not Churches ... do some more reading.
It was only after the Sanhedrin and the Jewish hierarchy had declared Jesus's teaching's as non-conformists that the synagogues became Churches as different from synagogues.

Jesus and his followers were bringing "The Good News" to their fellow Jews but they were rejected.
