house results - republicans picked up 16 seats in 2020 , they're plus 8 with more to count in this one.
some of the gains are in New york and california which is tough for a republican to do.
senate is basically a stand still and was expected to be difficult election for the republicans this term and expected to be much more republican friendly in the next election.
republicans picked up 6 million more votes in this terms house races over 2020.

not having a read wave ignores the fact the voters have been incrementally moving to the red party.
Previous GOP gains with Democrat president.

1966: -1.5M votes, +47 seats
1978: -6M votes, +14 seats
1994: +5M votes, +54 seats
2010: +6M votes, +63 seats
2022: +5 to 6M votes*, +16 seats*

I agree but one has to wonder after the last two years why Biden didn't get "shellacked" like Obama did in 2010.

Highest inflation in 40 years, millions streaming across the border, crime through the roof in big cities doesn't qualify?
it did some. red picked up 6 million more votes and took the house back. it also shows a movement towards the republicans the last two elections. that to me is more significant than one election where everyone gets pissed and does a purge.
in the end a win is a win regardless of the score.

the bad news is a divided congress will curb much of the extreme spending and therefore improve inflation in time for Biden to run again and say his policies have fixed inflation.

I know you're not going to believe me: but I think a number of people think that this down economy and inflation would be happening regardless of who was president. If Trump was president the economy would still be down. You could take all the best policies and knowledge from Eisenhower, Nixon, Reagan, both Bushes and Trump to create a super Republican president: we'd still have inflation and the economy would be stumbling coming out of COVID.

It's apparent you are in denial of the cause of the present inflation.

Unfortunately people have short memories. But he'll likely still be hitting them at the pump. And probably won't know where he's at.

If oil was abundant and $6 trillion wasn't injected into the economy it's likely inflation would still be around 2%.

demographics are destiny

the fantasy that latinos are conservative (seriously look at latin america, even the "conservative" countries are basically socialist) has been debunked over and over yet you still have stupid boomers repeating this line

don't forget, democrats may have started it, but republicans have aided them in every way possible including Trump

No it's because people don't think the economy is doing bad until they lose their jobs.

Firing people is the last thing employers do when there's a downturn. That's why unemployment is known as a lagging indicator.

Things will get worse.

you're not wrong, we were already in the middle of a big correction when covid hit, but Biden put the cherry on top with the relief checks

every single President going back to Nixon, but especially Bush, Obama, and Trump are responsible
