This video isn’t anything new, it’s not even surprising anymore. I can tell you that the “soft” Army started 10+ years ago, I enlisted towards the beginning of the soft era. I remember my Drill Sergeants complaining that they had the impossible job of trying to make war fighters but having to coddle recruits throughout the process. War doesn’t coddle anyone, and babying trainees just sets them up for failure. Enemies foreign and domestic aren’t going to coddle anyone and they don’t care about anyones background.
The people that would feel inspired to enlist from that commercial make up such a minuscule percentage of the military that it seems ridiculous to waste an ad campaign on them. Seriously most people walk in to recruiting offices because they think they're going to play real life Call of Duty while they get their college paid for, it’s not even for pride in country anymore. Regardless of anyones background or reason that they enlisted, they still wear the same uniform and are held to the same standards as anyone else and will be treated as such, that’s it and should be the end of it. You’re a green body and your most unique feature is the last name on your chest, and your job is to be a soldier. Leave your background and opinions at home and focus more on the flag on your right shoulder and the patch on your left shoulder instead.
