Do posters not know that during a recession there are few job openings and even a loss of jobs and during the recovery there has to be more job openings to make up for the lost jobs and population growth? And once the economy has recovered and unemployment is low, there will be fewer job openings. Saying there are more job openings now than in Feb 2020 as if that's a bad thing when the US economy lost 22 millions jobs belies an ignorance that is astonishing. We should hope there are more job openings. We lost 22 millions jobs. There are millions fewer employed Americans than in Feb 2020

Every frikin business in town is begging for employees. Get a job- pay your rent. Its that simple
Antecdotes aren't data. news paper stories aren't data. Right now there are like 6 or 8 million fewer employed Americans than in Feb 2020. So its not that simple. But again these posters refuse to look at any information about the huge loss of jobs, the delayed unemployment benefits for millions, the delayed rental assistance money going out to cover rent. Instead they'd rather just discuss these hypotheticals and imaginary bad people who don't want to work. They really want to enact government policy on complex societal wide problems on the basis of these irrational feelings about imaginary bad people getting over.

“JOB OPENINGS AND LABOR TURNOVER – JUNE 2021

Monday, August 9, 2021

The number of job openings increased to a series high of 10.1 million on the last business day of June, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Hires rose to 6.7 million and total separations edged up to 5.6 million. Within separations, the quits rate increased to 2.7 percent. The layoffs and discharges rate was unchanged at 0.9 percent, matching the series low reached last month. This release includes estimates of the number and rate of job openings, hires, and separations for the total nonfarm sector, by industry, by four geographic regions, and by establishment size class.”

Wow... I wow. Ok before a recession and with low unemployment as existed Feb. 2020, there will be fewer job openings. During the cornavirus/trump recession there was a lose of 22 million jobs. In order to make up that 22 million job loss, there will have to be MORE job openings so more people can get hired and the unemployment rate will drop. Without more job openings your unemployment rate will remain very high for a long time because we lost 22 million jobs and need to be make up those jobs and more to keep up with population growth.
So now you admit there are plenty of jobs available and it's just lazy ass losers that refuse to work because they want Democrat hand outs.

Okay, carry on my radical left wing friend.

22 million jobs were not lost, for all intent and purpose all beyond "essential" workers were locked out by government edict.
Jobs and livelihoods were stripped by govenment(s) for the greater good, defeating Trump.
The means justify the ends dontcha know.

Smh. Again, these posters prove my point over and over again. Imaginary people in their head is how they want to conduct public policy.
For a couple of monts you have been on this "public policy" jag, I've refrained in questioning you about it, thought it was just a piglet that found the teet.

Obviously not.

List these "public policies" you refer to.

Yes, facts like there are a ton of job openings and people are choosing not to work because Democrap policies incentivize them to be lazy.

But you radicals don't care about facts, all you have are nonsense illogical talking points and culture war BS.

A lot of job openings doesn't prove people don't want to work. It proves the economy is getting back to catching up to the 22million lost jobs. There are still millions of unemployed people seeking work.
Again, you all aren't interested in an analysis of the labor market, you aren't interested in understanding the unemployment rate, or the long term unemployed which still number in the millions.

You just want to take a stat you don't understand, and misapply it to justify creating all these imaginery bad people who are trying to get over and don't deserve help. This kind of purposeful ignorance is what you want to base public policy on. It is irrational.

I don't feel one bit sorry for jobless people now days. The jobs are there if you get off your lazy ass.
Why do your feelings about complete strangers matter? Oh that's right it more imaginery bad people who don't deserve help. Over and over again, this is an insane why to try to manage public policy that impacts millions of people. Again this thread is extremely revealing. These cats really don't want to know.

A lot of job openings means the economy is growing. It doesn't mean people are lazy.

Again and again, you all's understanding of society is to take a poorly understood stat, misapply that stat and then reach the same nonsensical conclusion, imaginary bad people are getting over and don't deserve help. This is an irrational and insane why to manage huge societal problems impacting millions of people.
