New Development with Response?

They could also have you do what I used to do when I shuttled, swing the rear doors open and back up as far as you can to one of the docks, no sida required then.

Good point. I can’t see that taking much time for 15 or so of us to get. Six months or so?

I still haven’t gotten a new ID and still have the one that expired last year.
If they’re going to drag their feet over something that’s required, tell them you’re not going to do a ramp shuttle until they get you what’s necessary and required. Then walk away.

Yes. Why hasn’t the TSA come down on them about proper identification? Supply chain issues? Are FedEx ramp employees required to have SIDA badges?

Went to the ramp for years, only needed a SIDA badge if you went out the building onto the ramp.
Like I said earlier in the thread, we used to be able to have escorted ramp access, but at some point in the last year or so they were requiring SIDA badges. We even sent a couple swings and Sat drivers down on slow days to get badges for shuttling purposes.

I don’t know what changed recently as I haven’t been to the local ramp in a year or more.

If I had to guess, there was an "escorted" no-escort-in-sight CRR on the airport and TSA/airport admin caught em and made everyone who regularly shows up get them.

No worries. FedEx will find something else real stupid to spend lots of money on.

EStar says hello. Supposedly it's getting revamped and rolled out nationwide in the spring.

Wait until the summer when UPS goes on strike, Ground can't hire anyone worth a damn, and Express struggles with their new software all at the same time. This country will grind to a near halt. Rural and exurb areas will be screwed especially.

I was under the impression that after UPS went on strike the last time, language in all future contracts was something to the effect of; “everything is negotiable as long as you know you can never strike.” Automatic termination?
Word on my block is it’s gunna be a lean, slim pickings kind of year. Expect a nose dive in freight numbers.

Estar due in Spring? In FedEx time, that means next Fall.

Dwindling freight volume + FedEx slashing costs = So long to the lowest on the totem pole. I’ll be glad to take a buyout. If ever.

I doubt there will ever be a buyout for hourlies like couriers. If they need to get rid of people, they’ll just make your route, schedule, etc. awful enough to make you walk.
