honestly if your route is going over 240 miles in a day (avg vehicle range), you need a satellite center or maybe an aircraft lolOn more than one occasion I've driven enough miles to go from full to empty in one day.

Trucks should be fueled everyday. What does it matter if you put 5 gallons in one day or 15 gallons in after 3 days. The cost is still the same. Topped off every night.
Yes.Do you fill up your personal vehicle everyday? The cost is the same when topped off every night...
Pre-trip...will take care of it.
Use to have gas cards in the package cars that had the highest mileage and had to get gas on area haven't seen any of those cards in a long time.I'm not sure the exact details of the system, but all I know is that our gas tanks aren't being filled up daily anymore. I believe they are judging by miles per route. We have had about 3-4 drivers since this new system started that have ran out of gas and had to put their own $$ into the tank. I for one will never put my own $$ into a ups truck tank, and when I said this to an on road sup, his response was "you will if I tell you to".
If there is one thing ups should leave alone and not mess around with... is the gas tanks. Just went out yesterday with a half of a tank. Route only gets about 60 miles, but what if there are misloads? Or a driver needs help?
Is this happening anywhere else? Is there anything we can do?
We still have them here , buy really only for the unleaded ones . The diesels get fueled at the hubUse to have gas cards in the package cars that had the highest mileage and had to get gas on area haven't seen any of those cards in a long time.
They all get gassed up at our building also. They had them stuck in the pouch behind the passenger seat, but I believe our center manager keeps what we have now.We still have them here , buy really only for the unleaded ones . The diesels get fueled at the hub
My best, most senior driver's PC was ALWAYS full when I found it.I haven't driven in 4 years but part of the pretrip used to be checking the gas level in the PC and if I did not have enough I would fill up before leaving. Do you guys not check anymore?
When I had to run one of those country runs I always made sure the tank was topped off before I leftMy best, most senior driver's PC was ALWAYS full when I found it.
We have to sign ours out everyday and then sign them back inThey all get gassed up at our building also. They had them stuck in the pouch behind the passenger seat, but I believe our center manager keeps what we have now.
I believe that's what they do here it's been 10 years or more since I ran one that needed a card.We have to sign ours out everyday and then sign them back in
Same here. They switched our pumps from unleaded to diesel awhile back when the fleet was mostly diesel. Now it's 90% unleaded. Almost everyone fuels up on road.We still have them here , buy really only for the unleaded ones . The diesels get fueled at the hub
Running out of gas is always the drivers fault. Incomplete pretrip. We have had drivers run out of gas before and they wished they hadn't.

Yes. The car washer. I have never put fuel in a UPS package car. But I'm also from Jersey, we don't know how to pump gas here....Wait, so drivers don't refuel in your center? Someone has to refuel them all??
anyways, if you run out of gas on road, you failed to follow methods & procedures in your pre-trip; in my district you'd have the week off to think about activating your brain next time
