Your belief is founded on bad information that you have been corrected about. I don't care if you don't like them.
Impracticality is simply false. That's not debateable. The average car owner does 10-15k miles a year and a few road trips that don't even last a full day. And the vast majority of those have power at home they can use.
The average car owner in America wouldn't even need the supercharging network more than a few times per year. That's not debateable.
All of those people would spend less time fueling their EV than you do your gas car.

The roof square footage is pretty useless on the average car.

The Cybertruck will have it as an option, and even on a giant vehicle will only provide 15-25 miles of power a day.
On the average car, it would be more like 5 miles a day. Just not worth the effort or cost.

That, however, makes it perfect for long adventure treks and month-long truck camps in the desert

80%+ of america has charging easily available at home or work. Recharging it at 5 miles a day in perfect sun would never be worth the cost to have them installed (and they're not easily or cheaply curved). It's expensive for almost no benefit for very few customers. That's why nobody has panels on their car.

The only people who have solar on their vehicles are van/RV life people who use battery regularly in remote locations. That's all it's good for. It has no other purpose.

The average car would need 1 charge a week or less. Almost everybody can do that at home or work. And those who can't, it's once a week. It's a non-issue.
