its all dependent on political will power from below. if thats missing, then the tech will likely destroy us. this system is based on growth as the MIT 2040 collapse report indicates, so likely a new system is whats needed...if u want to call that tech. we will have to look at whats causing energy use and how to be more efficient.
As it so happens M.I.T. has just developed a new way to produce electricity that completely eliminates carbon emissions. Involves photovoltaic cells and extremely high heat. They believe it has the potential to completely replace the current grid.

Sorry, but I don’t care anymore.

Extreme heat doesn’t sound good

How does it work again? we pollute, it rises and traps heat

Were over 400 ppm

Yeah, and we were supposed to see the last of the snow in England. Coastal cities and islands under water. Shrinking ice caps, yet they continue to grow. Our best hope is that CO2 actually does warm up.the atmosphere, 'cause we're heading into a cooling cycle, which will be far more devastating than a 1 degree C increase in a hundred years. Shorter growing seasons, renewable energy won't keep us warm, we'll look back fondly on the receding glaciers.

No idea. Saw an article earlier today. Maybe Google photovoltaic electric no moving parts MIT. Should turn it up.

Ok, I read up on it. One of the reasons solar panels only convert at 30% efficiency, at best, is because IR light is too low energy for them to convert to electricity, and that causes the panels to heat up, which decreases their conversion rate. I've been reading for decades about the next idea that will revolutionize solar, decrease production costs, increase efficiency, etc. Nothing ever comes of it. They never seem to get anything to market.

This new thing is not really new, it operates on the same principal as a thermocouple. But they seem to have come up with a design that boosts efficiency up to 40 percent, putting it past solar panels in efficiency, and coal and oil powered steam turbines.

We'll see if they can scale it up. There hasn't been a good success rate with this sort of thing so far.

You can ask pro snowboarders wat theyve seen

Same thing mountaineers were seeing in the 30's and 40's. Fakebook is trying to show me a graph of how much my city has warmed since the 50's. They don't want to go back further than that.
at least fb is talking about it finally. theyre only 20 years late

ive seen it myself. theres a glacier in alberta and they mark the dates where the glacier reached.

but yea im n the market for snowboard boots and some of them seem to be concerned. they get around these pros.
