Constitution is looking like the contract. Governors/Management ignore it when its expedient and enforce it when its in their favor. And half of us take their side.

Totally agree I think the one major thing this pandemic has proven. Is how far away from a republic we have come. The Democrats passed their last stimulus bill 11 weeks ago. The Republicans refused to negotiate because they didn’t see the urgent need. Trump failed to lead them as he’s failed to lead this country. His only option was passing weak EOs like the one that “created” Obamacare. Trump is a loser just like his followers.

Not a lawyer but I can read. You should try it sometime. The Dems have been trying to get a bill past for months. True their 3 trillion plan sucks but it was a starting point for negotiation. However the Republicans have refused to even talk about it till everything was set to expire from the first series of bail out. I fail to see the need to thank Trump for bypassing elected officials to do thing however he would like. If both parties would have actually tried to communicate with each other over the last 2 months this would not have been needed.
I abviously hate Trump but I do like most of what these orders are trying to do. The payroll deferment is stupid but the rest of it is pretty good and needed. Eviction protection, $400 extra a week for unemployment . I like these things. However he is not a dictator. There is a reason the founders created separation of power. He doesn't have the power to do it and we should all be terrified that he is trying to wrestle more power away from Congress. If the courts allow this to happen it sets a president that future presidents will continue to exploit. The courts shut down Obama when he tried similar things I hope they stop this and make Congress work for the people not their own interests.

We shouldn't be hip on adding more to the federal deficit because eventually we will be broke with ludicrous inflation. At some point we all have to be willing to say enough is enough. I know people need help but this isn't the answer. Cutting payroll taxes guts Medicare, medicaid and social security. Programs that are important but can't be sustained if we say screw it were not collecting this anymore. We have already spent our grand children's money 10 times removed. Where will it end? Personally I think all senators and congress peoples pay should be suspended during this pandemic until we get real solutions for the long term. No more short sighted bandaid because eventually we are all screwed. Let's hold the government accountable for getting us here.

Agreed. I think most of America feels this way. The Republicans in the Senate won't even look at the countless bills passed by the Democrats in the House and the now the Democrats won't give an inch to make sure a stimulus plan can pass quickly to get money ASAP to those who need it. It's just constant arguing between the two parties. They could do it if they wanted - case in point, the CARES act - they passed that pretty quickly with not much drama.

I honestly think most people are tribalistic morons and both parties have just become extremist groups with no logic anymore. However, if there is a facist side, it is clearly the liberal side. The left has literally turned into the party of book burning, tearing down statues, arresting people for defending their property, criminalizing speech, demonizing entire groups of people (white men) for not dedicating their every moment to admitting how racist they are and fighting against. They set of a CHOP zone that immediately became a worse facist version of the US with borders, their own "police" and then attacked people who were filming in the zone. The left literally echos the beginnings of the Nazi party in so many ways it's scary. The 700 might not make it either, the job could disappear, the company could drop you for any or no reason. Life is full of uncertainty. If you are in the position of having to make that decision, it would be foolish not to take the 1000 for as long as it lasts, for many reasons.

The point I was trying to make, is that it's not a sign of laziness. If someone is offering you more money for nothing, how does that song go? Would you walk away from a fool and his money? Nope. If taxation is theft, this is the best way to get your money back. You can work yourself to death and let the government continue to steal from you later.

Under Article I of the U.S. Constitution, only Congress has the power to “lay and collect taxes.”

Don’t see anything about ’cut’ or ‘forgive’. Means it’s up for grabs until Supreme Court weighs in on it.
