Liberty Bear
New but not Naive
This and related forums struck me as such a contrast to the attitudes I encountered at work. Here, most people are against the new conract. At work, most people said it stinks, yet most also said they were voting for it, for one reason or another.
Though I haven't taken any surveys, it seems like people's attitudes have been changing over the last few days. Today, nearly every person I talked to was angry about the contract.
When I got off work, a woman representing MakeUPSDeliver was standing outside handing out pamphlets. Most of the people she greeted seemed to be on her side. I asked how the shop stewards treated her, and she said all but one were supportive, or at least civil.
She and another guy liked my idea about acquiring T-shirts with political slogans. I made arrangements with a local store a few days ago to have some shirts printed. Now it looks like I'll one or more people to split the cost with me.
On the negative side, there are still a lot of employees who aren't even aware of the contract issue. Hopefully, we can rectify that in the next few days.
Solidarity!
