I remember the good old days when you leave 2 rolls of tape on your stick shift.
It was there everyday so the preloader could grab some when needed instead of putting it in his bag.
Now we have these damn automatics !!!!!!

Remember those days @fiftyliners ???? LOL

My friend (yes literally my friend not me) was fired for leaving the building with a roll of tape in his bag. He was stopped at the guard check with the tape and the center manager came out. He said "that's company property, we need to make an example out of him" and took his badge.

Steward has fellow box liners signing a petition.

Thoughts?
I had a very hard working and conscientious employee do that.
He had a work apron he wore to put things in he found.
One day he had a roll of tape he forgot to unload from his apron.
LP wanted to fire him ... I said no.
He was from Lebanon and his English was broken.
He had returned watches and even a Krugerrand he found in a trailer.

Years ago, I brought my own scotch tape in to tape load sequence paper to doors. They thought I stole it. showed the receipt from staples. The look on their face was priceless.

Your friend will be back to work in a few days. Same thing happened at our small hub. One of the old farts was fired for taking a tape gun home and was back to work shortly after.

Unpaid suspension sounds like the outcome of this, tell him to be humble and grovel at their feet.

This friend should be telling his shop steward and his BA to get a grievance going asap. This way he at least has an oppertunity to plea his case. Plain and simple....petitions mean nothing except the union workers want him back but managment does not care...chances are its a joke in thier meetings at some point.

Secondly IF your friend gets his job back and he needs tape at home just ask someone in managment you never know they may just say yes especially if it is a half roll.

Good luck

Lunch is the best part of the day
Hub supervisors here would take a tote of supplies and keep it in their car. 8 tape guns 8 rolls of tape through the guard shack every day. Otherwise they woul have none the nextday

If your BA is worth a :censored2: this should be thrown out pretty quick. Anyone with half a brain would realize you wouldn't risk the job for less than a roll of packing tape.

We had a driver who was fired for what amounted to theft of services----he "borrowed" a peel off bar code from one of his pickup customers to ship back a personal package.
